Richard Winston Sr.

Richard Winston, Sr. was born May 7, 1937 to the late Robert Winston and Martha Ellen Jackson Winston in Richmond, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Richard Jr. and Michael Winston; sisters, Helen Marie and Shirley Mae; brothers, Thomas Lee and Robert Lee Winston. He attended the Richmond Public School System. Richard was employed by Cadmus-Cenveo as a Clamp Lift Operator and retired after 31 years of dedicated service. Richard was truly a man of faith and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. A Man to Remember . . . He was a very generous man that loved his family. He kept a small close circle of people around him that he knew were of like and spirit. Richard kept his life simple and wasn’t looking to be out front and preferred to operate behind the scene not seeking recognition or praise for his kindness and generosity. Richard had a kind heart and a soul that most could only hope to emulate. His legacy lives in all that really knew Richard-the-Man. A Time to Reflect . . . Our loved one was the ultimate measure of a man which is not where one stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stood in a time of challenge and controversy. He had his moments however, he had kindness, integrity, a great sense of humor, intelligence and passion as a father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. A Time to Mourn Tears of Joy and Cherished Memories . . . Richard was a man that became the next chosen angel of our heavenly father and was accepted into the gates of heaven on July 19, 2017. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, June Ellen Simmons (devoted son-in-law, Dirrick) and Deborah Winston (William); two sons, Ronald (Donna) and Keith Winston; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; loving and devoted sister, Marion Winston; longtime friend, Dorothy McFadden; devoted niece, Angela Winston, a host of other relatives and friends. Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand … For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Isaiah 41:10, 13
