Richard N. Rolle

On January 25, 1955, John and Mildred Rolle introduced their only born son Richard Nathaniel Rolle to this world. He was born in Miami, Florida. Upon the untimely death of his loving mother, he came to live in Washington, D. C. with his Aunt Enid and Floyd Smith. He was welcomed with open and loving arms. He attended and graduated from Archbishop Carroll Catholic High School. He went on to attend Bowie State University where he proudly pledged and went over to The Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. This was a feat that indicated tenacity and determination. Richard remained a loyal Brother until the end. Richard maintained a prolific career working for the State of Maryland. His career began on June 1, 1988. He started as a Correctional Officer and moved on to become a Hearing Officer with The Maryland Parole Commission. He was later promoted to Assistant Warden with The Central Booking Facility. He then moved onto become The Program Director at The Juvenile Unit at The Baltimore City Detention Center. He retired on April 11, 2011. Richard loved sports. He played football, ran track and played basketball in high school, college and beyond. In the Later years, he umpired and refereed high school and adult softball and kickball. He also liked to watch sports on TV. He watched sports on every TV in the house at one time. He also downloaded every Sports App available. Richard embraced his manner of living with the 3W Policy. They were Wit, Wisdom, and Work. He had a keen sense of Wit, Exuded Wisdom through the experiences of his life and had a phenomenal work ethic. He also had excellent taste in clothing. He was a loving husband, father, cousin, brother, nephew, and friend. He loved his family and friends and we all loved him. He is survived by: his wife, Evelyn; his daughter, Toni; his granddaughters, Cenai and Cevaya; and his two children by a previous marriage, Jon and Christina. He is survived by: his sister, Sara and brother-in-law, Wendell Hollins and family; brother-in-law, Eldridge and wife, Mary Rice; brother-in-law, Steven and wife, Sherell Rice and family; brother-in-law, Lindell and wife, Angie Rice and family; brother-in-law, Darryl and wife, Zoretta Rice and family; brother-in-law Virgil and wife, Shirley Rice and family; and his two brothers, Donnie and Greg Smith. Richard is also survived and loved by an abundance of aunts, cousins, cousins-in-law, friends and co-workers. As his wife, I would like to thank you all for doing so.
