Richard Hudson Jr.

RICHARD HUDSON, JR., also known as (Dicky, Rick and/or Thunder Chicken) was born on February 7, 1942 to the late Richard and Rachel Hudson in Washington, D.C. On Sunday, January 20, 2013, he was called home after a lengthy illness. He received his education attending the Baltimore City School System. At the dear age of seventeen years old, he joined the United States Marine Corps, Parris Island, South Carolina where he mastered the art of the culinary cuisine. He received continuing education in the State of California. Upon returning to Maryland; he obtained a career working as a mechanic for BFI briefly before he came home to open his very own mechanic shop; something that he approached with great passion. He learned several skills and was known as “Jack of all Trades… and Master of None.” Rick kept himself busy all the time. He used to say a poor man ain’t got time to rest. His hands could repair anything he touched. Rick was compassionate and sensitive to others; always doing his best to help anyone who would come to him. To those who did not know him personally; he loved his wife, daughters, and grandchildren with all his heart and soul. He always kept folks laughing; those who had the pleasure of meting him cherished his friendship. He always knew the LORD and could sing about GOD’s love. He carried an amazing voice; especially when he bellowed out the tune to one of his favorite artist (Bob Marley’s) hit melodies called “Try Me”. One of his greatest passions was being around his family and enjoying life. Now he is singing with the LORD. Amen Rick leaves to mourn: his four daughters, Jaquita Magginson, Octavia Shaw, Nakia Hudson and Merian Hudson-Harmon; three sons-in-law, Germaine Shaw, Anthony Magginson and Edward Harmon; five grandsons, Antonio Dorsey, Kaavon Brown, Anthony Magginson Jr., Dylan Lee and Christopher Myers; seven granddaughters, De’Journae Magginson, D’Asia Magginson, Egypt Shaw, Alicia Hudson-Larkins, Nova Myers, Kandas Hudson and Michelle Harmon; and seven great-grandchildren; an amazing friend, partner in life, and devoted mother of his children, “The honorable” Cleo Sinclair; three sisters, Cleola Hudson-Cosby (Cleo), Denosa Lewis (Dee) and Lenora Ann Stevenson (Bonnie); one brother and best friend whom he loved dearly, Herbert Hudson; along with a host of additional family members and friends.
