Richard Douglas

RICHARD HENROY DOUGLAS, son of Maureen Drysdale, born on December 26, 1955 in Whitehall, St. Thomas, Jamaica sadly and silently departed this life on June 19, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Richard received his education in the Baltimore Public School System and later decided to advance his education in Mathematics at Morgan State University (MSU) where he met his wife, Sheila E. St. Rose. Richard and Sheila were married for twenty-five years until his passing on June 19, 2012. Richard was proud to have served as a leader in the United States Army until retirement in 1998. During his tenure, Richard received many service awards, medals and accolades for his accomplishments while assigned to various military installations; 510th TASG, Dundalk, MD; 818th Maintenance Co., Fort Meade, MD; and other units throughout the United States where he met long time friends. Affiliations include: The American Legion Post #297, Leader for several Boy Scout Jamborees, and Vehicle Wheel Mechanic NCOIC. He was well known for being a hardworker and dedicated to both his friends and family. Richard continued to be a role model while maintaining positions at Hedwin Corporation, Sweetheart Cup, Cox Creek Refining Company, and many others. Co-workers and colleagues respected Richard for his caring and kind heart. He enjoyed listening to Bob Marley, watching the Baltimore Raven Football games, agriculture and production of vegetables that he shared with others, as well as, prepared in many of his favorite Jamaican Dishes. He was well known for his Pineapple Upside Down Cake and hosting outdoor events that was sure to savor everyone’s taste. When returning home to Jamaica to visit family and friends, Richard ensured that his extended family abroad was provided with treats. Being of Jamaican decent, Richard enjoyed sharing and encouraging others to grow and produce crops by gardening and sharing his produce with all. Richard leaves to mourn: his wife, Sheila E. Douglas; daughters, Nicole Colleton and Vonetta Douglas; his mother, Maureen Drysdale; brother, Trevor Clarke; father and mother-in-law, Alton and Geneva Smith; brothers and sisters-in-law, Channing and Wanda Hawkins, Terrence and Cherie St. Rose; nieces, TeChera St. Rose, Kahtya Davis, Camille Clarke, Chanel Hawkins and Caylee Clarke; nephews, Terrence St. Rose, Jr., Cory Clarke and Isaiah St. Rose; son-in-law, Derrick Colleton; goddaughter, Kryssi Walls; and other relatives and friends.
