Rhonda K. Nowell

Rhonda Katrena Nowell, daughter of the late John D. Jackson, Sr., and Agnes Williamson Jackson, was born in Baltimore, MD on March 5, 1964. She peacefully and quietly departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Friday May 5, with her family at her bedside. Rhonda was married to Barry W. Nowell, on January 11, 1986. To this union of 31 years, one son was born; Barry W. Nowell, Jr. Rhonda was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. She attended Cherry Hill Elementary School, Rock Glen Junior High School, and the history making Baltimore City College High School. Rhonda was a member of the elite “A Course” at Baltimore City College. Rhonda graduated in June of 1982 with the first co-ed class of the newly re-organized school. Rhonda attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and majored in Information Systems Management. While at UMBC, Rhonda was initiated into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Lambda Kappa Chapter on April 19, 1985. She supported numerous chapter events and was actively involved in the public service endeavors of her Sorority. Rhonda enjoyed being employed along-side her friends. Her employment included Rustler Steak House as a Chief Grill Master (where her husband would ride a bike to come and see her), the Veterans Administration Hospital as a Pharmacy Technician, and the Allegis Group as a Configuration Management Analyst. She went “solo” while working for EA Engineering Company. She completed her work life at Marshall’s. Rhonda was an old soul especially when it came to music. She knew the lyrics to 1960’s and 1970’s songs. She loved the Temptations and Patti LaBelle. Rhonda took pride in her family and home. She loved helping Lil Barry with his homework. In her mind it was her homework. At Christmas time, she would decorate the house and family gifts in colored themes. For many years, Rhonda was affectionately called “Coach Rhonda” as she partnered with her husband Barry in coaching the 1st and Ten Cowboys little league football program. Rhonda was a wonderful and caring friend to all of her girlfriends. She listened, shopped, laughed, babysat, partied and dined with the Golden Girls, her Delta Sorors, and her Neighbor Girls. She enjoyed watching high school kids leave for prom. It was something about dressing up that tickled her fancy. Rhonda said what she meant, and meant what she said. She did not like dust, dirt or clutter. She gave great big hugs. If you wanted her, you knew where to find her. Rhonda spent her spare time in her room watching television or doing what she enjoyed the most; sleeping. Rhonda leaves to cherish fond and loving memories: her loving husband, Barry, Sr.; her son, Barry, Jr; one brother, John D. (Marilyn) Jackson; one aunt, Alma Williams; her mother-in-law, Jean Giles; three sisters-in-law, Regina Martin, Belinda (Stanley) Gilchrist-Day and Natalie Nowell; three brothers-in-law, Clarence Nowell, Jr., George Bruce (Sophia) Nowell, and Lancelot (Lisa) Nowell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
