Revanette Simone Gilmore

Revanette Simone Gilmore, departed this earthly life on May 28, 2026 in Baltimore, MD, at the age of 63. Born on July 17, 1962, in Charlottesville, VA, Revanette was the beloved daughter of the late Veronica Lee Gilmore and Charles Landon Gilmore, Sr. She was a devoted older sister to Charles Gilmore, Jr. and the late Carlos Gilmore. During her childhood, her family relocated to Kendall Park, NJ, where she attended schools in the South Brunswick School District. She was an active and spirited student who participated in the drill team, cheerleading squad and track team. Her enthusiasm, leadership and school pride were evident from an early age. Revanette continued her education at Virginia State University, where she majored in Special Education and earned numerous accolades. While at Virginia State, she was a proud member of the Woo Woo Girls Cheer Squad. Her years at VSU helped shape the educator, mentor and advocate she would become and she remained a proud supporter of her alma mater throughout her life. A lifelong scholar, she earned a Masters of Education degree from Coppin State University in June 1995 and later continued her studies at Loyola University in administration and supervision certification coursework. Revanette devoted nearly 30 years to the field of special education, serving in roles that included Special Education Teacher, Diagnostic/Prescriptive Teacher, Assistant Principal and Director of Education. Her leadership career included work at Villa Maria School and The Children's Guild, where she guided school operations with care, compassion and precision. She later served as an educational consultant with WEG, where she found deep fulfillment helping families navigate the special education process. For sixteen years, she also served as a University Supervisor for Johns Hopkins University, mentoring and supporting aspiring educators in the classroom. Throughout her career, she advocated fiercely for children and families, ensuring they received the support, dignity and opportunities they deserved. Revanette loved fiercely and supported wholeheartedly, freely sharing her wisdom while encouraging the dreams and goals of others. Her warmth made people feel welcome, her honesty kept them grounded and her strength reminded them they could always count on her. She brought laughter and light into every room she entered. Her love extended to her beloved dogs, Money, Rock, Jordan and Gucci, whose companionship brought her great joy. She believed deeply in helping others and lived a life definher ed a service, compassion and an unwavering commitment to making life better for those around her. Revie leaves to cherish her memory her loving father, Charles Landon Gilmore Sr.; her brother, Charles Gilmore, Jr.; her nieces and nephews, Christa, Charles II, Deanna, Peyton, Cordell, Kayla and Delaney; many great-nieces and great-nephews; her beloved godmother, Barbara Banks, her mother's lifelong friend; her cherished aunts, Stella Burkett and Dorthea Lewis; a host of cousins and extended family members; her bonus family, including her loving stepmother, Ann Gilmore; her stepbrothers, Earl Boston and Christopher Boston; and bonus nephews, Ryan, Keith, Emir, Elijah and Christopher; her cherished godson, Justin; her devoted best friends, Katrina, her Baltimore bestie and Karen, her lifelong friend; and a host of loving coworkers, former students, families and dear friends. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, advocacy, strength and service will continue to live on the countless lives she touched.
