Raymond Sylvester Street, Jr.

Having fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith, on September 29, 2022, Raymond Sylvester Street, Jr. went to his heavenly home for his eternal rest. Born on February 10, 1962 to Barbara and Raymond Street, Sr., he is the second oldest of four children. Raymond Jr. was educated through the Henrico public schools. He is a proud graduate of the Highland Springs High School Class of 1980. As a Springer, he played football. You could find him on the field sporting the #42 jersey. Upon graduating from high school, Raymond Jr. worked at Retreat Hospital for a couple years. In 1982, he began employment at the Richmond International Airport working in catering services. After 37 years of faithful service, Raymond Jr. retired due to his disability. He loved his job and often wished he could have continued the work. To know Raymond Jr. was to love him with your whole heart because that’s how he loved and hugged you. He married his high school sweetheart, the former Lisa Crutchfield, in 1995, on his birthday. They raised two sons who made their parents proud, Ray and Jermaine. He had great adoration for his two grandchildren, VoSean and Teonn, who fondly called him Papa. He was their greatest champion during their sporting events and loved spending quality time with them. Raymond Jr. was a lover of life. He enjoyed driving cars and transforming their look. His prize possession was his 1968 Cadillac that he has owned for the last 14 years. Raymond Jr. enjoyed hanging with his friends at the car shows, especially Ron Currin’s Car Show. He is an avid football and basketball fan, always favoring the Buffalo Bills and LA Lakers. And, he also loved going to the movies with his family. What a gentle giant this world has lost. He was always loving, kind and sweet with everyone he met – he never met a stranger. Although his physical heart failed, the gentle giant’s loving heart never faded. Through all of his pain and triumphs, his smile never lost a sparkle, his hugs never lost its strength, and his faith in God never wavered. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Be assured he is resting comfortably in His Savior’s arms. Although God has dismissed our loved one from this place to dwell in His house, never will Raymond Jr. be dismissed from our hearts. He leaves to cherish precious memories, his devoted wife and best friend, Lisa Crutchfield Street; sons, Raymond Anthony Street and Kareen Jermaine Street; grandsons, VoSean Street and Teonn Mills; parents, Barbara and Raymond Street, Sr.; mother-in-law, Mary L. Crutchfield; siblings: Larry James, Michael Street (Katrina) and Patrice Pemberton (Richard); sisters-in-law: Leah Crutchfield, Leslie Crutchfield, Dorothy Crutchfield Collins (Keith), and Darlene Crutchfield; aunts: Bertha James, Bernice Bentley (John), Frances Arrington (Larry), and Alice James; uncles: Henry Street, Jr., Edgar Street, Sr. (Beverly), Stewart Street, Sr., Neal James (Hazel), Purnell James, and Richard James (Mary); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, of whom devoted friends include: Sam Brown, William Goode, Tommy Johnson, and Bobby Lewis.
