Raymond E Mack

RAYMOND E. MACK, son of Mrs Jessie M. Mack and the late Wilson Mack, Sr., was born on June 24, 1943 in Cheraw, south Carolina. He departed this life after a lengthy illness on January 7, 2011. He had three siblings, Mrs. Mildred Juanita Davis, Wilson Mack, Jr. and Thomas L. Mack; longtime companion, Ms. Mary Wilson and daughter, Brenda Wilson all of whom preceded him in death. Raymond received his education at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School then furthered his vocation in the United States Army. He later became employed by The Church Home and Hospital where he worked thirty plus years and became a supervisor in environmental services. After the closing of CHH, he was then employed by H&S Bakery's painting department from which he later retired. Raymond was fondly ans lovingly known as Ray, Uncle Ray, PopPop, Rainbow, and Granpop. He was a gentleman, friendly and well respected. “A Smile for Miles” even a quaint smile for when he was hurting... Raymond loved fishing, watching the game, country and western music, down home blues, and westerns-you can tell that from his picture of John Wayne! He loved and enjoyed the company of all his family and friends especially his grands. Family and friends want to acknowledge and thank daughter, Daylene Anderson and granddaughter, Tyra Gardner for their love, faith, and strength as caregivers-grace and courage until the end... Raymond loved his best friends, Mr. Mickey (Daniel Baylor), Hawk (Mr. James Hawkins) and Biscuit (his puppy), with whom he shared his mornings reading his newspaper, drinking his coffee and eating his breakfast. Occasionally he'd strike a tune or two on his keyboard or guitar. It may have been questionable to a few but “ He Came To Play”. Raymond went to the alter at an early age, and in the goodness he shared with others will surely shine from his spiritual side... He leaves to mourn: his mother, Mrs. Jessie M. Mack: two sisters, Delores Anderson and Gloria Mack; niece, Mrs. Terryce Justice Elliott; aunts, Mrs. Marie Wynn and Mrs. Leana Barnes; nephews, Pharron E. Davis, Taun E. Davis, James R. Brooks, Edward G. Anderson and Derrick L. Foster; twenty great-nieces and nephews, four great-great-nieces, thirty-nine cousins and a host of great, and great-great-cousins. From the loving union with longtime companion Mary Wilson, he leaves to mourn his adopted family; three daughters, Mary Smith, Barna Austin and Daylene Anderson; son Andre Wilson; son-in-law Calvin Smith; grandsons, Donte Austin an Reginald Smith and Andre M. Wilson; grand-daughters, Tyra Gardner, Chante Drakes, Kokita Wilson and Keyanda Hutton; grandson-in-law, Jackee' Hutton; sisters-in-law, Mattie Phillips, Dorothy Lewis; Mrs. Rose Bailey and Annie Clark; brother-in-law, Ronnie Clark; nieces, Rev. Daphiney Clark-Williams, Wanda McCray, Kendle Cross, Veda and Marcella Lewis; nephews, Jamar Bailey and Wayne Lewis; sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great -grandson; other extended family, Gloria Webb and Family, Karen Kent and Family, Shirleen Webb, LaVern Morton, Delores Lee, Thomas Gardner, Nina Dentman, Barry Wright and a host of other friend and families.
