Rayfield W. Barrett

Rayfield William Barrett, son of Shirley Barrett Roles and the late Rayfield Thomas Barrett, was born November 23, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland. On May 13, 2017, he made his transition from his earthly tabernacle to his heavenly home. Rayfield was the second born and the only son Shirley Barrett Roles and the late Rayfield attended Baltimore City Public Schools and later joined the Job Corp where he received his High School Diploma. Rayfield married Patricia Walden and from this union they were blessed with 3 sons, Rayfield Jr., Kevin, and Brian. After a number of years, he was blessed with his daughter, Lazelle (Vonya) Lyons and son, Rayshawn Barrett. On July 27, 2002, Rayfield married Rochelle Miles and from this union he gained another son, Marcus Miles. Rayfield accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Maxwell Johnson at Ebenezer Baptist Church. In 1997, Rayfield transferred his membership to New Life Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an usher and sang on the Joy Gospeleers Choir. Bunt or Uncle Bunt, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, moved to New York and worked as a licensed Boiler technician for 25 years. Bunts returned to Baltimore at the age of 50 and was employed by the State of Maryland and Baltimore City Public Schools until his retirement in 2003. bunt had a kind and compassionate spirit. If you needed anything and if it was in his power, he would be there for you. Bunt loved to laugh and spend time with his friends and entertain anyone in his presence. He truly loved his family and was definitely a Mama's boy. He would always say if anything happened to his mother, he would have Doris Williams listen. Bunt loved sports and his wife would always say, “If a ball was bouncing on TV, he was watching it.” Bunt was and avid chess player and was always looking for someone to challenge. Bunt leaves to rejoice and cherish his memories: his wife Rochelle Miles Barrett; 5 sons Rayfield Jr. (Patricia), Kevin, Brian (Kenesha), Rayshawn (Tara), and Marcus; daughter, Lazelle (Vonya) Lyon (Durrall) of New York; grandchildren, Jordon, Chelsea, Kennedy, Shateekwa, Tashawn, Katla and Rashrd; I great grandchild, Kamryn; Mother, Shirley Barrett Roles; 4 sisters, Margaret Taylor Brooks (John), Jacqueline Byrd (Michael), Gwendolyn Tavert (Dwight), and Patricia Smith (Jerry); 1 uncle, Rev. Dr. Lloyd Marcus; 2 aunts, Harriet Lucus and Mary Marcus; sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
