Ralph T. Eley Jr.

RALPH THOMAS ELEY, JR., the son of the late Ida Mae Taylor and Ruth Thomas Eley, Sr., was born on November 9, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland. Ralph quietly and peacefully made a victorious entrance into the presence of God on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. At the age of eight, Ralph and his brother, Richard, were sent to Virginia to live with their paternal grandparents, Lillian and Richard Eley. At an early age, Ralph, also known to many as Fuzz, accepted Christ and was baptized at Christian Home Baptist Church in Windsor, Virginia. At the age of eighteen, Fuzz returned to Baltimore and two years later was united in holy matrimony to Ida Marie Washington. God blessed them with Maurice and Sheila. Fuzz worked for many years in maintenance at the Social Security Administration Building in downtown Baltimore, while also working part time at Avis Truck Rental. He retired about fifteen years ago from The Wallace Campbell Company, where he did maintenance work at the Northern Parkway Medical Building. Fuzz loved to travel and to entertain family and friends. His travels took him to Mexico, Alaska, the Caribbean, Paris and all along the East Coast. He looked forward to his biannual trips to Massanuttten in Virginia with his daughter, nephew Tubby and family and friends, Cynthia and Donna. Fuzz returned from his last vacation on August 3rd. He attended the Oatis family Reunion in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Fuzz loved helping others. If you needed your grass cut, a toilet fixed, carpentry work or electrical work, he was your man! He looked forward to volunteering with the SHARE Food Ministry at Concord, where he picked up, helped package and delivered food. He always kept the ministry well stocked with grocery bags. Fuzz enjoyed fishing with his son and members of the Kaffo Sportsman Club. He also looked forward to the annual family picnics, where family and friends enjoyed “Uncle Fuzz's” fried fish and homemade lemonade. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted daughter, Sheila; his granddaughter, Michelle; his great-grandchildren, Antwon, Kyle, Alrice, Deandre and Vanity; his sisters, Phyllis Eley and Corinda Jones; his devoted cousin, Ernest Clinton; nieces, nephews, other cousins and his extended family members, Cynthia taylor, Donna Butler (his “medicine caller”) and Joe Ann Oatis. Fuzz was preceded in death by his wife, Ida; his son, Maurice; his sister, Blanche and his brother, Richard.
