Rachel Bunn

God decided it was time to call home one of His children. On Thursday morning, January 24, 2002, one of His Angels came to take Rachel to a new home where there is no death, pain or sorrow- Just Peace.Rachel Bunn, daughter of the late Sarah and James Roberson, and the eighth of nine children, was born on October 15, 1928 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. On January 24, 2002, she departed this life peacefully in her sleep after a long illness. She was educated at Rocky Mount’s Nash County High School. At an early age she gave her life to Christ and became a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church also in North Carolina. In November of 1946, she married Elias Bunn Jr., and from this union they had three sons Alvin, Kenneth and Phillip Bunn. In 1950, they moved to Patapsco Park, in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. In 1952, she joined Community Baptist Church and remained a member there even to this day. She was a member of The Usher Board, and also a Crossing Guard for Anne Arundel County. She enjoyed having her family around, cooking, sewing and most of all she loved working in the yard cutting, and pruning, moving or planting flowers. She always had a smile on her face every time you would see her.Rachel leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband of 55years, Elias Bunn, Jr.; three sons, Alvin, Kenneth and Phillip of Baltimore; two sisters, Mattie Harrison of Washington, D.C., and Erma Jean Stokes of North Carolina; four sisters-in-law, Essie Bunn, Dorothy Bunn, Elizabeth Bunn and Algia Lean Roberson of Hollister, North Carolina; three brothers-in-law, Frank Bond, Sr., Robert Bunn, and Charles Redd of Baltimore; one daughter-in—law, Debra Bunn; one step-grandson, Karl White of Arkansas; many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.WHAT CAN WE SAYThere’s a place that’s empty in our heartsThat will never be the sameWords cannot say how much we will miss youThe love we have is so dear.Trying to keep you, Yes, still hereWe will keep your memory yet aliveBecause it’s hard to say goodbyeWe love you, but god loves you bestSo sleep now and take your rest.
