Quincy T. Adair

A time to be born: Quincy Tony Adair, son of the late Eddie and Seretta Adair, was born on January 1938 in Hare Valley (Northhampton County), Virginia. A time to Worship: Quincy confessed his faith in God at an early age and he was baptized at the New Allen Memorial AME Church in Franktown, Virginia, where he actively participated in the youth choir and the youth fellowship program. A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted: Quincy received his formative education in the public schools of Northhampton County where he graduated from the Northhampton County High School, Machipongo, Virginia in 1955. While considering his future, he discovered that he had a keen interest in the Food Service Industry; thus, in September of 1955 he enrolled in the Commercial Food Service program at the Norfolk Division of Virginia State College (New Norfolk State University) where he received an Associate Degree in 1958. During the summer of 1958, he obtained a position in the Food Preparation department of the Golden Dragon Restaurant in Virginia Beach, Virginia to broaden his background in the real world of the food service industry. After this experience, he felt that he was ready for the “Big Time,” so he moved to New York City where he eventually landed a position with a great deal of enthusiasm and determination to succeed in the business and after several months on the job he received an excellent performance evaluation, including a modest salary increase. As time passed, however, he concluded that the employment practices of the restaurant would not enable him to fulfill his career objectives and he resigned. After resigning from Juniors, he was offered a Management Position at his older brother’s Amoco Service Center until 2005 after a life altering illness. A time to Love: Quincy met the lovely Sarah Shields and after a modest courtship they were joined in Holy Matrimony. From this union they were blessed with a lovely baby girl, Toni Adair. A time to Die: Quincy departed this life on Saturday March 12, 2016 following a lengthy illness. He leaves to cherish his life and memory: His daughter Toni Adair, two stepchildren Andre and Valencia, nine step grandchildren, one sister Joyce Adair, two brothers Verdell Adair and Alvis Adair, two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Adair and Vanessa Jeffries, two brothers-in-law, Levi Shields Jr. and James Shields, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
