Phyllis E. Green

On Friday, August 29, 2014 in the stillness of the early morning, God saw the road was rough and hills were too steep for Phyllis to climb. So He gently closed her eyes and whispered, “Peace be thine.” PHYLLIS EUNICE JACKSON GREEN, daughter of Mable L. Johnson Neal and granddaughter of the late John and Carrie Johnson, was born on October 29, 1940 at the old Provident Hospital in Baltimore City. She received her education at Bates High School in Annapolis, Maryland. Phyllis worked for a number of years at North Arundel Hospital and retired due to her failing health. Phyllis didn’t let her health stop her as she was soon working again for Arundel County to care for challenged children for a couple of years until she saw fit to retire for good. She received Christ at an early age at Ashbury Townneck United Methodist Church. Phyllis knew who her God was, as she held on to her faith and her love for God as she ascended to the home where we all will go someday. She was married to the late Walter Jackson Sr. and years later, on December 11, 1977 she was united in holy matrimony to the late Earnest Green. She was known by most of her neighbors and was well liked by many. She enjoyed attending to her beautiful flower garden and feeding the squirrels and birds every morning. She loved to cook and have her family and grandchildren come over for dinner or have a good old cookout on Saturday at any time. She loved seeing her grandchildren happy. She also kept fruit on the kitchen table knowing that her grand boys would be coming through after playing basketball. Phyllis was a loving, caring mother who loved all her children. She had a different relationship with each one. She was an only child and had such a big heart for her mom and children, and a special love for her boys. She leaves to cherish her memory: five daughters, Deborah Rose, Constance Johnson, Sandra Wallace, Karen Jackson and Kimberly Spears; three sons, Walter Jackson Jr., Brian Jackson and Kevin Jackson; sons-in-law, Melvin Spears and Willard Johnson; three daughters-in-law, Hazel Jackson, Tracy Jackson and Daria Jackson; two devoted cousins, Shirley Dorsey and Goldie Bladen; Aunt Shirley and Uncle Calvin Johnson; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends
