Phillip V. Palmer, beloved husband and best friend of Gladys V. Palmer, crossed over early Phillip V. Palmer, beloved husband and best friend of Gladys Palmer crossed over early Easter Monday, March 28, 2016. Phillip was born in Baltimore Maryland, to Geneva and Daniel Palmer on February 16, 1934. Clearly a man who recognized a gem when he saw one, Phillip married his friend, Gladys, on Christmas day. They remained married for a little over 60 years. Most of his employment years were as a produce manager. His career began with Penn Fruit and spanned several decades. His expertise and creativity were recognized by many in the industry which lead to him being sought after and consequently employed by other premier super markets during his career. He was known for his exceptional work ethic which was reflected not only in his work performance, but also in his is determination to be at work, on time, every day regardless of the weather. He enjoyed his retirement which he began at the age of 62. During his retirement he pursued many hobbies and enjoyable activities such as listening to his favorite music, watching old movies and westerns, grilling everything in the freezer that could be grilled, nurturing his vegetable garden, putt putting in the yard and doing odd jobs around the home that he loved. Phillip was a quite dapper dresser; you’d know this if you ever saw him heading to the St. Peter Claver for Sunday mass. If you did, you would have seen him in a stylish suit and tie, with a coordinating shirt and suspenders, topped with his signature hat. He had a special way with people; a natural way. Whether you were a new neighbor, stranger, family member or friend he put you at ease. His smile, laughter, and the way he loved to joke around, made him a joy for everyone to be around. His greatest legacy however was his love. He loved his family and he loved his friends. He didn’t do a lot of talking about it, but he lived it, demonstrating it in many big and little ways. He lived his love like the action word it is! He has gone home, but he left us with many loving memories. He was preceded in death by his parents Geneva and Daniel Palmer, his brother, Richard Palmer, and sisters Eleanor Eleanor Duppins and Clarice Reed. He leaves to celebrate his legacy: his wife, Gladys Palmer, his four children, Tammy Hagin (Herb), Sharon Cox, Garry Palmer, and Diana McEachern: his grandchildren, Amber Hagin, Austin Pannell, Erica Cassell (Aaron) and Kenya Todd (Michael) and step-granddaughters, Jessica and Ashley. He also leaves three great grand children: Jaden Todd , Ethan Todd, Deonte` Cox, two sisters Dora Greaves, Edith Williams, and two brothers, Joseph Palmer {Rosalyn) , James Palmer and a host of other nieces and nephews. His real work was that of being a role model and provider for his family.
