Philip L. Ward

Philip L. Ward son of the late Andrew and Elmira Ward of Sayes Court, Barbados, West Indies, began his journey in the world on August 9, !923 and having fulfilled his purpose here on earth, he entered peacefully into his eternal reward on June 17, 2010. He attended St. Christopher Boys School in Barbados after which he became a mechanic apprentice. In 1945, Philip migrated to the United States where he met the lady, Bessie Mae Watson, who would subsequently became his wife and the mother of his five children. Philip was a God- fearing, Kindhearted and jovial man, who was loved and respected by those who knew him. Always positive and loving, Philip spent many hour laughing, joking and telling entertaining stories. Demonstrating deep breathing and prescribing Physical exercises to remedy any ailment was his specialty. He never allowed for a dull moment. As a young man he made his choice to serve the Lord and lived his life accordingly. Fifty years ago, he opened his home for fellowship meeting always welcoming workers and friends from around the world. Philip was a true pillar, a great source of guidance and a wonderful example for all. Dedicated to building a life for his family, Philip became an entrepreneur at a very early age, opening a service station/ automotive and body shop in Baltimore, Maryland which he continued operating while he began his career of 30+ years at Sears Roebuck and company as a senior mechanic. H leaves to mourn his loving wife of 58 years Bessie Mae Ward and Children Philip (Maryann) , Arnold, Lorna Edward ( Richard), David and Beth Alecia. He will be Proudly remembered by his grandchildren Michael, Christopher and Sabara and great-grandchildren Leyron and Jaslyn. He is preceded in death by his siblings Erma, Selassie, Zita, Ena Jackman, Ermine and Eric Ward and brother-in-law Thomas Campbell and Arnold Stewart. He is survived by sisters Agnes King, Anise Stewart, Lorna Cox and brother Charles Ward, sisters-in-law Dorothy Campbell, Ethel Gregg, Sara Epps, Laretta Ward and Audrey Ward, brother-in-law Roy Watson, Fred Jackman, Beresford Cox and Lionel King. Philip will be sorely missed by his extensive family, in Barbados, Trinidad and the United States, and a host of friends and neighbors with whom he shared his life. May we all take comfort in knowing that absent from the body means present with the lord.
