Pearline Wright

Ms. PEARLINE NELSON WRIGHT, daughter of the late Louis and Hattie Nelson, was born in Alvin, South Carolina, on July 26, 1930. She was the wife of the late Herbert Wright. She departed this life on December 2, 2008 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a young age. She was baptized and became a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Alvin, S.C. In pursuit of God’s heavenly reward she worked diligently on the Usher Board and in the Sunday School Department.Becoming a full adult, Pearline moved to Baltimore. Maryland to pursue other job opportunities; and that is where she settled and resided until death. She became a member of The New Second Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for over thirty years. She served in the capacity of church mother “Mother Wright.” She received honorable mention in 2005 for her faithful Christian service.Pearline was educated in the public school system of Berkeley County, in Alvin, South Carolina. She was employed for twenty-plus years in the restaurant business. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, singing, and helping other people. She enjoyed watching television, especially the Bethel A.M.E. Church of Maryland broadcast, on Channel 54 on Sunday Mornings. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23and her favorite song that was sung in church was “I Shall Not Be Moved.”She was preceded in death by her sister, Bessie Nelson Brown, and her brother, Benjamin Nelson.Amongst those who will always cherish her memory are: a devoted son, Bishop Kevin (Linda) Nelson of Blythewood, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Cameron J. Nelson Sr. of San Bernardino, California, Courtney Nelson and Victorious Nelson both of Blythewood, South Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Cameron Nelson Jr. and Allyssa Nelson both of San Bernardino, California; three sisters, Emma Snider of Baltimore, Maryland, Generee (John Henry) Lampkin and Mary Lou Jones of Alvin, South Carolina; two brothers, Woodrow (Connie Mae) Nelson of Orlando, Florida, and Louis Nelson Jr. of Bronx, New York; one uncle, Cephus (Sarah) Prioleau of Baltimore, Maryland; adopted nieces and nephews that she claimed as her own, Charlie Brown, Willie James Prioleau, Letha (Tony) Christian, Miranda (Napoleon) Gadsden, Cassandra Snider, and Orlando Moyd; special lifetime friends, Lizzie Myers, Birdie Jackson, Patricia Boulware, Lamont, Tony and Gary all of Baltimore, Maryland; her co-workers from Brentwood Inn Company in Baltimore, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives and friends.Pearline Wright, better known as Pearl, carried the torch of love and life not only for herself, but for all those who came to know and love her. She was an outgoing and devoted woman of virtue. Everyone she met was drawn to her cooking and her persistence to get you to eat her cooking. Those who will cherish her memory can truly say that she made everyone around her feel special, and she was a mother to all that she met.
