Pearleen Johnson

PEARLEEN JOHNSON, daughter of the late Ellabell and Clifford Reed, was born on July 17, 1915 in Blackville, South Carolina. Pearleen departed this life on April 19, 2001 due to a lengthy illness. Pearleen was married to James Johnson, who preceded her in death, and from this union three children were born, the late James Johnson, Elease Johnson and Lou Ellen Johnson. Pearleen received her education at Macedonia High School in Blackville, South Carolina. Pearleen came to Baltimore, Maryland in the mid 1940s where she would make this her home and start a new life. Pearleen became a member of First Apostolic First Church. Pearleen became employed at the Packing House Company where she was a full- time employee until she retired. Pearleen had a life-long companion, Roy Dyer who also preceded her in death and from this union three daughters were born, Arnetta Dyer, Gloria Dyer and Audrey Dyer. Pearleen Adopted Cora Miller into her family as one of her own where she was a loving mother to her and daughters, Tammia Miller-McIntosh. She was known by everyone as Pearl or Nosey Pearl. Should I say she knew everything about everybody (LOL). She will definitely be missed by her family and friends. Pearl had a very fiesty and sassy way about her, she didn't take no stuff from anybody. She said what she meant and meant what she said. She always had a special way about saying what was on her mind. If you got her wrong one saying in particular, if she was mad was, “ you're in the right church,but the wrong Pew” and “Oh yeah, and I might be half dead, but I ain't scared” and she meant every word. She touched so many lives throughout her life. She had a big heart and would help anyone. Its going to be really different not seeing her sitting on the steps or walking through Perkins looking for someone in her family, yelling their names saying, Have you seen so and so, Pearleen will truly be missed by everyone. Pearl leaves to mourn: five daughters, Lou Ellen Johnson, Elease Johnson, Audrey Dyer, Gloria Dyer and Tammia Miller- McIntosh; (two daughters preceded her in death, Cora Miller and Arneta Dyer and a son, James Johnson); grandchildren, Donte Taylor, Antonio Jones, Antione Jones, Darnell Dickson, Lakisha Brown, Jermaine Lyles,Tyesha Lyles, TyShay Dyer, Cierra McKeever, Tavia White, John L. Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Cynthia Johnson, Terry Johnson, Rosma Johnson-Ford, Richard Johnson, Erica Johnson, Katrina Johnson-fogg, Iesha Carswell, John Earl Johnson, and Taretha White; twenty-four great-grandchildren, twenty-seven great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
