Pearl A. Chase

PERAL AQUILLA BOND CHASE, the daughter of John W. Bond (deceased) and Lottie H. Bond (deceased) was born June 2, 1947, she surrendered to the Divine Will of God, with the assurance of hearing a sweet voice saying, “Well Done , mygood and faithful servant. Pearl received her education in the BaltimoreCity Public School Systrm. She attended the Fairfield Elementary School, Benjamin Franklin Junior High School and graduated from Southern High School. Pearl was dilgent and hard worker. She worked for Equitable Trust, Bell Atlantic, Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company and assisted her brother in the Bond Catering Service. Pearl was skillful in the area of economics and was known for helping others in matthers of finance. In 1967, at the home of Edward and Sara Walker, she married Harry F. Hughes, Sr. A medical misfortune caused Harry's untimely death and prevented him from seeing the birth of their son, Harry F. Hughes, Jr. she met the love of her life, Michael Chase and on December 17, 1971 they were married. This union was blessed with two daughters, Elischa and Nikita. A member of a Church Of God In Christ Family, whose roots in the Church Of God In Christ extend more than 100 years, at an early age she became a member of the Ebenezer Church Of God In Christ, (Fairfield, Maryland) under the leadership of Elder James Frank Parker (deceased). It was at Ebenezer that she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was active in the Sunday School and Y.P.W. W. Department. When Elder Parker moved the church to Baltimore, she became a member of the Bethel Church Of God In Christ. In 1988, she joined Emmanuel Ministries Church Of God In Christ, a church organized by one her lifelong friends, Bishop Joel Harley Lyles, Jr. At Emmanuel Pearl was very active in numerous ministries. She was a Senior Trustee and a very diligent worker. Nothing asked of her was too great for her to do. She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved husband, Michael Chase; son, Harry Freddie Hughes (Shervonna); daughters; Elischa Bryant (Avon) and Nikita Chase; sister, Esther Tiggle (William); two brother, Roger and John Bond; Fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one god daughter, Cheryl Bagley; best friend, Gwendolyn Hargrove; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Chase and Cherry Mills; two brothers-in-law; Bernard and Arthur Chase; the Bazemore family; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, an extrended family as well as an extensive church family.
