Pauline Lane

Ms Pauline Lane Knight was born on January 20, 1936 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina to the late William and Janie Bell Brown Knight. On Monday, April 20, 2009, one of God’s heavenly angels came and took her hand.Pauline received her education from Edgecombe County Schools in North Carolina. In 1957 she moved to and made Baltimore, Maryland her home until her falling health where she then relocated to Fayetteville, North Carolina with her daughter. Pauline was the oldest of eleven children. She was married to the late Joe Lane. She was a loving and kindhearted person, who opened her heart and home to everyone she came in contact with.She worked for over 30 years doing domestic work for the late William and Mary Benedict until her retirement in 2004, due to her failing health. Prior to working for the Benedict family, Pauline worked in housekeeping at the Duchess House and later became assisted chef at the Holiday Inn.Pauline was a faithful member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church, where she served as a Deaconess, under the leadership pf Dr. Rev. Alfred CD Vaughn. She later moved her membership to New Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Mamie Cooley and attended services regularly until her health began to fail. After moving back to North Carolina in 2007, she attended Deliverance Temple Word of Faith Christian Center under the leadership of Bishop O.T. and Mother Annie Johnson in Fayetteville, North Carolina.In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Della Mae Knight Graham and three brothers, Augusta “Gus” Knight, James Albert Knight and Forrest Lee Knight.She leaves to cherish her memories; one daughter, Judy Ann Moyd (Leon) of Fayetteville, NC, one stepdaughter, Gail Lucas (Edward) of Upper Marlboro, Md., two sons; James Cleveland Knight (Marjorie) and Collins Knight Sr. both of Baltimore, Md, five grandchildren; Rebecca Jackson (Quentin) of Frederick, Maryland, Seon Moyd (Cheryl) of Seattle, WA, James Lamont Knight of Baltimore, MD, Deidra Moyd of Fayetteville, NC and Collins Knight III(whom she raised as her own) of Baltimore Md., fourteen great-grandchildren; Jaden, Heaven, Ashaia, Zion, Jada, Jaylin, Collins III, Kallyan, Colee, Kerelle,,Shanikque, Aquaviah, Kenisha and Tatiana. She assisted in raising Charlie Benedict of Marylad and Jackson Benedict of Wyoming, whom she treated as her own. Four sisters, Bernice Knight of Rocky Mount, Marilyan Knight of Tarboro, NC, Glenda Knight of Rocky Mount, NC and Sarah Knight of Sharpsburg, NC, two brothers; William Knight Jr. of Lexington, NC and James Curtis Knight of Sharpsburg, NC, one sister-in-law Claudette Knight-Singelton of Brox, NY, one brother-in-law, Lomond Graham(rose)of Rocky Mount NC, two aunts Beulah Falson of Rocky Mount and Margaret Knight of Battleboro,NC, one uncle Thurman Dunston of Rocky Mount. Special friend Mary Benedict of Baltimore, MD. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
