Pauline Haywood

Pauline Haywood, daughter of the late Otha and Mary Louise Yerby Sutton was born on February 23, 1927 in Northumberland County, Virginia. God called our Angel home on the early morning of July 18, 2016. Pauline moved to receive her beginning education at the Alavon School in Heathsville, Virginia. She relocated to Baltimore at the tender age of 16, completing her education in the Baltimore City School System. She later attended the Baltimore School of Bible earning her Teachers’ Certification. She was also educated and employed for many years as a Geriatric Nurse Assistant. Deciding to make Baltimore her home, she met and married the late Robert Lee Haywood; their reunion lasted for many years. Pauline was a devoted wife and mother to all of her children. She accepted Christ at an early age, becoming a long- standing member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. She later joined Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, where she served for years as a pastors’ aide and choir member. Finally she became a member of the Peoples’ Church, faithfully remaining until her health became of concern. Pauline was known for her gentle, quiet nature. She had a spirit of compassionate, and giving. Her life was devoted her to family and friends. She brought the family together to share many meals (she was a great cook). She was the most resilient woman you could ever meet, always forgiving, accepting of anyone who has ever needed her. It is one of the many reasons why all who knew her loved her. Pauline leaves to cherish her memory: her adoring children, Wilbur, Francis, and Marilyn Sutton, Kathryn, Cheryl McIntyre, Robert Haywood; ten grandchildren, Tanya, Gino, Shernita, Donnie Freeman, Troy Dillard, Damien Williams, Nikki and Derek Haywood, Antoinette and Kwesi Sutton; ten great-grands, Kenneth Palmer, Zoey Lipscomb, Tia and Sydney Newton Travon Dillard, Lemaj, Seyah, Derek, Jayden Haywood, Damien Williams and two great-great grandchildren, Luca and Lola Eddo; one sister-in-law, Maisie Sutton; a friend of sixty-two years, Alice Gardner; a devoted son-inlaw, Gregory McIntyre; devoted daughter-in-law Lynn Haywood; a host of devoted nieces and nephews. She loved you all.
