Paulette DeLight Mayfield

Paulette DeLight Mayfield peacefully accepted her invitation to spend Christmas with her Savior on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. Paulette was born on September 17, 1948 to John Edward Williams and Cecelia Elaine Williams in Norfolk, Virginia. At age 14, she moved to Portsmouth with her sister Janette when her mother married Joseph Edward Malloy, Sr. in 1963. There, she became part of a blended family with six other siblings that would eventually become ten (Barbara, Lillie, Joseph Jr., Eileen, David, William, Mark and Althea). She attended Portsmouth Public Schools and graduated from I.C. Norcom High School in 1966. After high school, Paulette married Oliver Mayfield and started her beautiful family. Later she married Mack Robinson in 1973. Her children are Trina, Tasha (deceased), Tracy, Torey, Torel and Tarel. She made Richmond her home and worked for Ukrops for many years. Paulette accepted Christ as her savior as a young adult and made St. Paul's Baptist Church her church home. Paulette's nick name was "Mie' Mie", a name given to her by Trina as a baby. Mie' Mie' loved her children very much and worked hard to give them a good life. She was much admired for her creative homemaking and decorating skills. She was a great cook and made meals from scratch. Her baked ziti and macaroni and cheese was a favorite. She was constantly redecorating and painting to keep it "fresh". Paulette loved to crab and visited the Lynnhaven fishing pier in Virginia Beach whenever she could. Paulette was predeceased in death by her father John Edward Williams, step-father Joseph Edward Malloy, husband, Oliver Mayfield, daughter Tasha ("Lady") Robinson, a grandson, Marquis Jobes, and her mother Cecelia Elaine Malloy ("Mama Laine"). She is survived by her children, Trina, Tracy, Torey, Torel and Tarel, and step son Jon Mayfield. She also leaves behind several siblings: Janette (George), Mark (Stacey), Althea (Jay), Lillie (Cleveland), Joseph Jr. (Katherine), and William ("Bill"). She also leaves to cherish her memory sixteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, an Uncle Kester Bailey and a host of cousins and friends. She was loving, kind, thoughtful, and willing to help others in need. Her bright smile, big heart, and cheery voice will be missed by all.
