Patricia V Harper

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:7 Patricia V. Harper was born to the late Samuel and Beatrice Harper, on March 9, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland. Patricia is the second of four children. Pat surrendered all and left this earthly vessel after a lengthy illness on December 22, 2014, at 2:42 p.m. Pat was affectionately called Pape, Big Lucy, or Pat O’Brien by her family and close friends. Pat was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System attending Henry Harding Garnett #103, Clifton Park Junior High School and graduating from Eastern High School. She continued her education by earning a certification in Geriatric Nursing from Stella Morris School of Nursing. Pat developed a strong work ethic early in life, after graduating from high school she began working at Misty Harbor Manufacturing Company as a seamstress. She later found employment with London Fog Coat Company, on Clipper Mill Road, until the plant closed. She then began working as a store manager at Fayette Convenience Store, which led her to become an entrepreneur operating her own Grocery Store and Cleaner and Laundry mat. As a young lady, Pat’s love, devotion and attitude towards her family always granted her the ability to be of assistance and to reach out to help others, with a Godly heart. She touched many lives; to some she became the mother who was missing in their lives. Everyone knew they could come to the nineteenth hundred block of West Fayette Street to get a meal, great advice, and a good laugh. Pat’s sense of humor was unmeasurable and always left you with a smile. Pat was an excellent cook and cake decorator. Her family and friends would stop by just to see her beautiful creations and to see how she would put a spin on a season. The family would gather at her home on Sunday’s to dine on her delicious meals and her signature dishes. Pat enjoyed watching all movies and could identify any actor that played in them, give her a scene or title of a movie and she could tell you starred in it. Pat was a very fashionable and classy lady with a loving and giving heart. As time went on, Pat decided that she would retire in 1987, in order to spend more time with her family. At a very young age, Pat was baptized and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior. Pat faithfully loved the Lord. Pat had one daughter; Darlene T. Julius. Pat helped raise her grandsons, Kenneth, Keith, and Jasper with a strong and solid foundation in Christ. The boys were the light of her life and she was also their light. She passed down her skills of cooking and work ethics to them; she was very proud of the boys and always told them so. God saw the road was getting rough; the hills were hard to climb. He gently closed those loving eyes and whispered “Peace be Thine”. The God we serve was ready for her to come home, He said, “I have prepared a place for you” and with open arms she went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Pat leaves to celebrate her life and to mourn our lost one daughter, Ms. Darlene Theresa Julius; three devoted, dedicated and loving grandsons, the twins Kenneth Martin Harper and Keith Luther Harper, and Jasper “Shuggie” Thomas of Baltimore, Maryland; three great grandchildren, Akira Harper, Micah Carter Thomas, and Pumpkin Thomas; one loving and devoted brother, Clarence “Lonnie” (Diretha) Harper; and one dedicated, devoted, and loving sister, Charlene Harper (Lonnie) Fisher; one brother, Rodney Harper preceded her in death, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
