Recipe for a Life Well Lived In Loving Memory of Ora Lucille Robinson November 18, 1932 – August 5, 2026 The Ingredients: • Ninety-three years of love, grace, and kindness • An abundance of faith in the Lord • A generous spirit that could never be measured • A heart filled with compassion • A willing servant of the Lord • An undying love for family and friends The Recipe: Take Ora Lucille Robinson, born on November 18, 1932, in Richlands, North Carolina, to Samuel Johnson Parker and Ora Parker. She was the beloved baby of six children and the heart of the family. Her parents adored her lively spirit, and her siblings enjoyed her witty and feisty personality. She felt loved and protected by her mom and dad; her sisters Minnie and Maebelle; and her brothers Tom, William, and Leon. Lucille could often be heard asking about them and calling on them to assist her in her time of need. Their love for her transcended time and space. Add 93 years of a life beautifully seasoned with love, faith, kindness, sweetness, and service to the Lord. Ora, most lovingly known as Lucille, loved the Lord and served Him with gladness. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about—it was something she lived. She was a devoted woman of God who was a member of First Baptist Church from 1974 until her death. Her favorite song, “Jesus Is All the World to Me,” was a beautiful reflection of the faith she carried throughout her life. Fold in her love for the church. Lucille shared her beautiful voice as a member and vice-president of the Mass Choir. She was an advisor of the Youth Encounter Society and the New Light Singers, served as the Financial Secretary for the Deaconesses, was a Missionary in the Nettie Williams Missionary Society, held the office of Benevolent Chairperson of the Missionary Society, and served as a Deaconess. She had a special way of making people feel cared for, encouraged, and loved. Add meeting her her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Bruce, and then spending fifty-nine years in marriage, along with a combined family of four beautiful children which she adored: Carnell, Robert, Denise, and Regina. Lucille adored her family and gave her best to them each day of her life. She was the household CEO. To her husband she gave her love in the way she took care of the home, prepared delicious meals, gently corrected him when he was wrong, hugged and kissed him to let him know he was the apple of her eye, danced and sang with him to lift his spirits, and worshipped and served the Lord side by side. To her sons, Carnell and Robert, and daughter, Denise, she demonstrated her love by always being there for them when they needed her. To her daughter, Regina, who held a special place in her heart because she was her baby, Lucille was Regina’s protector, advocate, discipleship teacher, “librarian” (as she was a voracious reader and shared this love of literature with her daughter), singing and dancing partner, shopping buddy, cooking teacher, confidant, and best friend. They were inseparable and there was nothing either of them would not do for each other. Lucille knew she could depend on Regina to always be by her side, and Regina knew the same to be true of her mother. STIR in a generous portion of her love for cooking and sewing. Lucille could bring people together around a good meal and create beautiful things with her hands. Lucille was known for her collard greens and delicious butter cakes, and people loved to put their feet under her table for the holidays because they knew their bellies were in for a treat. And when it came to creating fine wares with beautiful fabric, Lucille’s couture could compete with the best in the world. And, of course, no recipe for Lucille would be complete without adding her love of shopping and dressing. Macy’s knew her by name. She enjoyed looking her best and carried herself with a style and grace that was uniquely her own. Mix in her remarkable ability to love people. Lucille’s life was filled with countless sons and daughters whom she mentored, encouraged, nurtured, and loved as her own, and numerous family and friends. The lives she touched became part of her legacy. Wherever Lucille went, people remembered her. They remembered her smile, her sweetness, her kindness, her faith, her laughter, her style, and most of all, the way she made them feel loved. “I love you” and “Are you married?” were the words she expressed in sincerity to many people she met, even those in the hospital. She cared about the well being of everyone she encountered. The Finished Dish: After 93 years of preparation, Lucille created something more precious than any meal she could have ever cooked: a life filled with love and a legacy filled with people who will never forget her. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory: her beloved husband, Oscar Robinson, Baltimore, MD; devoted daughter, Regina Arnold, Baltimore, MD; special nephew-son, Ronnie Parker (Elke), Raleigh, NC; brother, Leon Parker, Charlotte, NC; sisters-in-law Esther Parker, Kinston, NC and Elizabeth Robinson, Jacksonville, NC, a host of nieces and nephews; along with her extended family, church family (“Boyfriend” Deacon Bobby Owens), and the countless sons (Minister Tony Williams and Deacon Andre Cooper) and daughters (Bonita Frazier, Nicole Trent, Michelle and Zonda Williams, Althea Carter and Arriana Carter, and Linda Anderson) she mentored and loved throughout her life. Her faithful caregiver Von Franklin. Her earthly work is complete, but her recipe for love will continue to be passed down through everyone whose life she touched. And when we miss her, we can remember the words of the song she loved: “Jesus Is All the World to Me.” Her Earthly work is complete, but what she has gained is sweeter than any dessert she could have baked which is eternal life with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. HER EARTHLY WORK IS COMPLETE, BUT WHAT SHE GAINED IS SWEETER THAN ANY DESSERT SHE COULD HAVE BAKED WHICH IS ETERNAL LIFE WITH OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST.
