O'Neill Grant

O’Neill Cooper-Grant, daughter of the late Hattie and John W. Cooper was born on August 13, 1923 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on October 10, 2001 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Even though she was ill, no one could ever tell by the loving smile she kept on her face. A smile that no one could ever forget, just like the person it belongs too. O’Neill was a very out going person; she made friends where ever she would go. She was very known for holding lengthy conversations, but the conversation would always be very knowledgeable and interesting, so you could not help but listen. O’Neill was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools, she also attended Baltimore City Community College where she later received her degree. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church for many years, where Pastor Marvis P. May became one of her many close friends. O’Neillheld numerous jobs, one of which she really enjoyed, her job as a Baltimore City Crossing Guard for the Public School System. Although O’Neill never had children of her own, she really enjoyed being around them; she especially enjoyed being in the company of her large number of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. O’Neill leaves to mourn: one sister, Suttie Rich and brother-in-law, James Rich, Sr.; four brothers, McCoy Cooper and sister-in-law, the late Eady Cooper, Carlos Cooper and sister-in-law, Charlotte Cooper; John Cooper and sister-in-law, Helen Cooper; Benjamin Cooper and sister-in-law Jackie Cooper. Also a host of nieces, nephew, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.Auntie Although you’re not here with us physically, you’ll be in our hearts and memories. You were our second mother whether you realized it or not. That’s another reason why we all looked up to you and respected you in more ways than one.
