Nora G. Richardson

Legacy of Life Nora Belle Gladney was born on December 14, 1940, to the late Edward Gladney and Bessie Cox, the youngest of 5 children. She was educated in VA and NC school systems. She studied at the J. W. School of Education and James W. Teamer School of Religion. She was fortunate to stay in the home with the (Founder President James and Vice President Julia). As long as she could remember she was taught the Bible by her Dear Mother. Her Mother was a devoted woman of God, a “Warrior” in Prayer. Very young she accepted Christ in her life and was baptized. During summer breaks she traveled to various cities and states in revivals with Rev. Harold Williams, now Bishop, married to (Shirley Caesar). She also sung in the choir. Every August she attended the National Convocation of Mt. Calvary Churches of America Inc. in Buffalo, NY where churches, choirs and people from all over the world came to fellowship together. She loved traveling with the Church and being a part of the wonderful event. Feeling she needed more knowledge for what she wanted to approach, she furthered her education at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College taking business courses. That prepared her to become an entrepreneur, working with the Veterans Administration Residential Care Program, (for veterans not able to live independently). For 19 plus years she was a (CRC) Sponsor. She enjoyed taking care the veterans. She was employed by Safeway Stores Inc. for close to 15 years. She was promoted to the Management Program. She was certified with the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Welfare for Family Day Care; with the Department of Social Services for completing the Foster Parent Training and had a Laubach Literacy on Tutor Certificate. She married James A. Richardson, Sr., her childhood sweetheart in 1984 over 39 years ago. There were no children born to this union. Her favorites things she enjoyed are Gospel Music, Oldies, love songs, vacationing and traveling with her husband and family. Vacation Spots were San Juan Puerto Rico, Mexico, Florida, California, Myrtle Beach, Canada and Hawaii. She enjoyed roast beef, sweet potato pie, cleaning making things beautiful, and family gatherings with all her children. She was preceded by her two sisters, Renae Carter, Sarah Tinsley, one brother Joseph Gladney (Noami), Cora Hickman (Joseph). Which they all left this earth in the order which they were born, including one grandson, Wayne Cheatham Cash, Jr. She leaves to cherish her husband James A. Richardson, Sr., two daughters, Patrice Cash Mackall (Elmer) and Carol Sherman McCowan (William); son, Jessie (JB) Mills (Chasity); grandchildren, Jerome Sherman, Jr. (Stephanie), Stuart A, Cash, III, Catrice L. Sherman and Micah Mills; great grandchildren, Noadiah, Elijah and Azariah Long, Zuri, Zemora and Zachariah Sherman, O’ Nyah Blagmon and Cameron Martin; one grand fur baby, Checkers McCowan and one great grand fur baby, Zuri Cash.
