Nicole Danette Clemons

Some people leave footprints wherever they go. Nicki Left Laughter. Nicki was born in Buffalo, New York, where she was a beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend to many. She attended and graduated from Riverside High School in Buffalo, NY. In the late 1990s, Nicki relocated to Richmond, Virginia, where she began her career as a Corrections Officer with the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice. She served with dedication until her retirement. Nicki, was known for since of humor. She was one of the funniest people you could ever meet. No matter how serious the situation, Nicki would still tell a joke. She had jokes for days. Though she love having d lots of fun and was quite silly, she was a natural leader with impeccable taste. Above all, Nicki was loving, devoted, loyal, protective, charismatic, adventurous, genuine, affectionate, courageous, and selfless. Known by many as the “Dancehall Queen,” Nicki loved Jamaican dancehall music and dancing. Ever since she was a little girl, she could dance her butt off. Everywhere she went, she brought energy, along with a camera to strike a selfie-pose in a heart-beat. Nicki remembered everything and seemed to know everybody. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making people feel welcome. As those who loved her often said, “Put Nicki in the wilderness with a bear, and she’s coming out wearing him!” That’s how fearless and determined she was. More than anything, Nicki loved her family and friends, especially her nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her love, laughter, and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Nicki was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Katherine Clemons, and her sister, Renee Jefferson. She leaves to cherish her memory her nieces and nephews, Lasharee Jones, Delicia Jones, Charles Jefferson, Rufus Jefferson, and Percy Jefferson; her sister-cousin, Ventenese (Toney) Palmer; her aunts and uncles; and a host of relatives and friends. Though she is no longer with us, Nicki leaves behind a lifetime of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
