Nettie J. McRae

Nettie J. McRae Williams, 88, died Sunday June 8th, 2008 at the Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore, MD. She was born June 11, 1919 in New Kent, Virginia to Willie and Ada Harvey. She was one of 13 children and the last of her siblings to pass away.Nettie McRae married the late Pastor Lewis Williams. She was unable to have children of her own, however, as the 1st Lady she was able to mother many of the saints of The Holy Commandment Church No. 2.Mother Williams continued to serve with her husband until his death. After his passing she continued her fellowship with Bishop Conway and Holy Commandment Church family in Washington, D.C. When Bishop Conway passed away she then began fellowshipping with Bishop Theodore and Mother Oveta Jones at Bethel commandment Temple of Baltimore Maryland.When Bethel Commandment Temple relocated in cedar Heights Maryland, Bishop Jones referred Mother Williams to Bethel Church of God 7th Day under the leadership of Bishop James K. Thomas where she remained until her death.Mother Williams was a great support and encourager during her time with Bethel. She became the vehicle that began the Thanksgiving outreach drive at the Brentwood Apts., whee she resided after her husband passed. She also sponsored finger, she received many certificates and awards for her support.Mother Williams was very quick and sharp, always ready for a response. Always had her wits about her and like Moses her natural strength never abated. Mother had an awesome talent and gift, she could sing, her voice vibrated the atmosphere when she would sing. Excellent songstress, with you while you sang. She spoke candidly of her family's quartet groups and singing events of her youth, always set to harmonize with the children choir, with the church choir, with Pastor even in the car or at the restaurant, it really didn't matter where, she was always ready to sing.After being diagnosed with Dermentia/Alzheimer's disease, she was forced to leave her home at the Brentwood apartment and many of her friends to a Nursing facility at Future Care in Charles village where she lived until she departed this life. She spoke highly of the care and love she received from the nurses and the supporting staff, but she missed her apartment.Mother Williams is survived by countless nieces, nephews, from her brothers and sisters, grandchildren from her husbands side of the family, Herbert Nelson her God-son. She will simply be sorely missed.
