Nellie G. Ransome

It is very hard to sum up the life of a mother on one page. Our mother, NELLIE GERTRUDE RANSOME, was the Matriach of the family and was very dear to us. She was born on November 14, 1936 in Baltimore, MD to the late Thomas and Rosebud Mullen. She received her wings on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Our family was by her side when she drifted off to be with the Lord. She was affectionately known to family and friends as Nellie or Sissy. She lived most of her life in East Baltimore, and was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. Nellie graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in 1954. Nellie loved the Lord. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior early in life. She attended several churches in the Baltimore area, until she joined Northside Baptist Church in 2018. She was a faithful and active member until she went to be with our Lord and Savior. Nellie held several jobs in her lifetime, however, she retired as a Public School Crossing Guard in 1991. She really loved her job. The children really loved her and she looked forward to seeing them each day. She made friends everywhere she went. You could always find Nellie talking and sharing stories with friends, loved ones and strangers. Nellie was a dedicated mother, frst and foremost. Nellie treasured spending time with her family and friends. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as a grandmother. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She loved to travel, play BINGO, and going on trips with the Golden Girls. Nellie was preceded in death by: her parents, Thomas and Rosebud Mullen; her son, Nelson H. Lee; her brothers, Charles, Alfred, James and Fred; her life partner, Robert Watson; her sister-in-law, Lillian Johnson (bestie and road partner). Her memory will be cherished by: her daughters, Evelyn Ransome Alston (Graylin) and Tilithea Ransome; two grandsons, Juqual Smith and Shannon Dudley; granddaughter, Bianca Williams and great-grandson Barry Williams, Jr. Her memory will also be cherished by her best friends Dottie and Bernie, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
