Nathaniel Weston

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. -II Timothy 4:7NATHANIEL WESTON suddenly departed this life on December 22,2001. He was the second born to the late Mettrah and Eva Barrow in Hyde County, Scratton, North Carolina on November 8, 1922. He received his formal education in Scratton, North Carolina and then later joined the United States Army. He was inducted in to the armed forces in 1940 and received an honorable discharge in 1945. Nathaniel was united in marriage on April 20, 1969 to Dorothy Mayfield in Baltimore, Maryland. From this union they were blessed with nine children. He was a member of the Leisureman Social Club where he served as Business Manager. He was employed with the State Highway Administration for thirty-four years until the time of his death. He was truly a man who loved God and his family with all of his heart. His display of unconditional love and care for both his family and friends has left all that knew him with a legacy of what God’s grace, mercy and love are truly about. Nathaniel believed that God and family were first and that nothing should come before them. He loved to work, watch television and fellowship with family and friends. He attended the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland for many years. He was loved by all who met him because of his unique quiet, meek, and humble personality. He was a sincere and serious person about his relationship with God. Nathaniel was a man who believed in stirring up the gifts that God had given to others, by his inquisitive questions that would start a person to think to expand on what was inside. Joy, Peace, laughter, tears, hope, comfort, and love that only he could bring was places in his life by God and will be with all of us forever to pass on the present and future generations. Just as he lived with his unusual quiet, meek manner is the way the Lord took him home. He leaves to mourn: his loving wife, Dorothy Mae Weston; four sons, Willie, Nathaniel Jr., David, Joseph; six daughters, Judith, Dorothy, Jackie, Anita, Versie, and Elizabeth; five sisters, Dolly, Bernice, Hattie, Althea, and Dorothy; twenty-seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren; one mother-in-law, Mamie; eight brothers-in-law, Thomas, Andrew, Yak-Yak, Sam, Joe, Billy, Marion and Woodrow, five sisters-in-law, Louise, Henrietta, Carey-Lee, Erlene and Liola; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will unite with two sons, Bernard and Calvin, two sisters, Tahitta, Lula Mae and one brother James as he entered into the gates of heaven. Blessed be the name of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
