Mr. Nathan Johnson

Nathan Johnson, was born in Fairfield, South Carolina on September 17, 1951 to the late Doretha Westley and the late Nathaniel Johnson. He was suddenly called home on March 13, 2015. At an early age he was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. “Big Nate” as he was called by family and friends received his education in the public schools of Dundalk, Maryland. He earned his diploma from Dundalk High School. He started working as Bethlehem Steel in Sparrows Point, MD in 1972 and was employed there for 31 years until the plant closed down and he retired in 2003. Nathan, met the love of his life the late Sheila (Leach) and on April 24, 1976 they were married. Out of that union two children were born, Eric Johnson and Nikkya Brooks. Nathan was preceded in death by his wife Sheila Johnson, mother, Doretha Westley, father, Nathaniel Johnson, and one sister, Annie McCoy. Nathan, was a very loving person. He was a good father, grand-father and friend to everyone that knew him. He loved spending time with family and telling funny jokes, he kept you laughing. He liked watching football and baseball. He loved listening to his Oldies-but-Goodies. He loved to eat; his favorite food was fried chicken and he had a joy talking on the phone. Not a day went by that he didn't call his family and friends. Nathan, made numerous friends wherever he went and will be sincerely missed by many. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: One son, Eric Johnson (Tinika); One daughter, Nikkya Brooks (Edward Jr.); Eight grandchildren, Erika Johnson, Tyrone McNair Jr, Kayla Johnson, Tatiyana Vaughn, Andrea Brooks, Tyree McNair Ty'Juan McNair, and Tanaisha Johnson; Three sisters Bobbi Cammon from SC, Thomasina Prileau (Lee) from MD, and Gloria Gary (Robert Stokes) from PA; Two brothers, George Johnson and Claudie Mack ( Lillie) from SC; Two aunts, Beatrice English from SC and Bertha Dennis from MD; One mother-in-law, Marie Lowe from NC; One sister-in-law, Rosa Doss from NC; Five brother-in-laws, James Leach, Eugene Lowe, Jeffrey Lowe, Michael Lowe, and Alex Doss Sr. all from NC; And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. He will be sorely missed.
