Nancey Muriel Janey

Nancy Muriel Weaver Janey, daughter of the late Archie Weaver and Martha Lyde Weaver, was born on January 13, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on Thursday, June 27, 2002 after battling chronic lung disease. She received her formal education from Baltimore City Public Schools and also later attended Strayer Business College. Nancy was a saved, born again, Holy Spirit filled Christian who loved the Lord and prayed always, particularly for her children and family. She also especially loved to read the Bible. Some of her favorite Scriptures were from the Book of Psalms, especially Psalm 91 and Psalm 23. No matter how sick or tired, Nancy always found the strength to get up to praise the Lord. In church, you could always find her clapping her hands and singing. She had a beautiful voice. One of her favorite gospel singers was Mahalia Jackson. Nancy was a member of New Unity Baptist Church where her eldest daughter Martha L. Bailey attends and is a long time member. She also loved to visit the church where her youngest daughter Rev. Romaine N. Williams home church, Union Bethel A.M.E. When she moved to Florida, nine months ago, Nancy wasted no time finding a church home there as well. She fell in love with and joined Faith World Church. She also enjoyed visiting Anointed Word Family Worship Center where her daughter Sheila Janey-Dixon attends in Florida. Nancy worked at the State Health Department in the Chemistry Lab for more than ten (10) years. She also later volunteered at Pimlico Elementary School in Baltimore City from 1981-1994 assisting children with varying special needs. This was a great love of her life and it brought her much joy.Family member that preceded Nancy in death and whom she also loved very much: two sons, William Handy Janey (July 18, 1950 – March 2, 2001), Leonard Henderson Taylor (September 28, 1957 – June 20, 2002), two brothers, John Weaver and Wilbert Henson; one sister, Lavaria Haddon; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Handy Janey and Hattie Janey; Norman Richard Taylor, Leonard Taylor, and Mable Elizabeth Maddox. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her husband, William Janey, Sr.; one son, Col. Kenneth A. Maddox; five daughters, Martha L. Bailey, Christine N. Arroyo, Gloria L. Janey, Sheila Janey-Dixon, and Rev Romaine N. Williams, Esq, three sons-in-law, Gregory M. Bailey, Sr., Apostle Marc Dixon, and Anthony K. Williams; two daughters-in-law, Joan Janey and Carolyn Maddox; one brother, Daniel P. Weaver; one sister, Dorothy Patterson; three brothers–in-law, Neal Janey, Esq., Donald Janey, and Shawn Janey; three sisters-in-law, Vera Henson, Anne Weaver, and Linda Janey; nine grandson, SSG. Gregory M. Bailey, Jr., (wife Rhonda), Derrelle M. Janey, Esq., Stanley R. Wake, Jr., (wife Sandra), H. Kenneth Jones Guinyard, Troy L. Guinyard; Alexander Janey (wife Lynette), Kenneth Maddox, Jr., Demetris Taylor, and Timothy Miller; seven granddaughters, Enriqueta M. Arroyo, Priscilla Williams, Toni D. Williams, Jasmine Maddox, Ashley Maddox, Alexandria Maddox, Jade Brown; sixteen great grandchildren, Gregory M. Bailey, III, Latoya D Bailey, Aaron M. Bailey, Melani N. Bailey, David E. Bailey, Tiffany Bailey, Xavier B. Bailey, Gabriel H. Bailey, Victoria G. McGhee, Christopher J. Dargen, Candace J. Dargen, Soria R.Wake, Sancia D. Wake, Alexander L. Jane, Joshua Janey, and Kayla Janey; two “adopted” daughters, Niece Felice Sanders and Sharon Dickerson-Greene, “adopted” granddaughter, Tracie Rouse; cousin, Margaret Smith (age 86); very close long time friends Deacon Ruby Rice, Deacon Eddie Mullen, and Deacon Helen Mullen; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
