Myrna Carol Jones

Myrna Carol Jones, daughter of the late Dorothy Lane and James Gray was born on August 20, 1933 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on earth on February 13, 2012 due to sudden complications. Myrna gave birth to one daughter, Rosalind Reba Spencer, who preceded her in death. She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. Upon the completion of her education she worked for the Blind Industries and Service of Maryland, where she worked for over forty years and in the year of 2001 retired. Myrna, affectionately known as Peaches and Ma-Mert by her family, was never one to keep still; she was always alive, active and full of enthusiasm, so much so that not long after retirement she returned back to work and continued to work until months before her death. Myrna married the late Robert “Bobby” Jones on December 17, 1955 and together they raised her daughter the late Rosalind Butler. In her spare time Ma-Mert loved to eat crabs, drink Pepsi and spend time with her family and friends; she certainly was a pleasure to be around. Ma-Mert was a devout Jehovah’s Witness. One of her greatest joys was doing the will of Jehovah. She faithfully attended her meetings, field service and passionately shared the news of Jehovah’s Kingdom wherever she went. To say many loved Ma-Mert is truly an understatement. She literally changed the lives of whomever she came in contact with; she left everyone with something to remember her by. In her presence alone she carried a sense of peace and tranquility. She was a woman of substance; with every movement she possessed poise, her very essence was meekness, and out of the abundance of her heart came love. She was beyond a phenomenal woman; she was nothing short of amazing! Ma-Mert was truly what her family would call her, “The Little/Big Momma”, of the family; and she will truly be missed. She leaves to cherish her memory: two grandchildren, Montrae and Troy; grandson-in-law, Lamont; granddaughter-in-law, Tanya; four great-grandchildren, Terran, Deondra, Donald and Traeona; one great-great-granddaughter, Carly; one sister, Thomasine; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Awilda; three brothers-in-law. David, Paul and Odie Jr.; two uncles, Roger and Ronald; one nephew, Kenny; two honorary sons, Rudolph and Louis; honorary daughter, Barbara; two special cousins, Joann and Claudette; long time friend, Clara; two very special and devoted friends, Jim and Diane; her entire Jehovah’s Witness family, and a host of other relatives and friends.
