Moses Belin

MOSES BELIN JR. was born October 13, 1932 to late Moses and Sallie Belin in Florence (Pamplico), South Carolina. He departed this life and went to be with his Lord and Savior after a lengthy illness on June 30, 2009 at Veterans Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.Moses received his education in South Carolina where he attended public school. He also served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955.Moses accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at a very young age. He was always prepared to talk to anyone about the “Goodness of the Lord”. Up until his very last day on this earth, he was singing “God’s Praises”. Many of the nurses at the hospital visited his room throughout the day to request a song. He often spoke of the “angles” he saw in his hospital room.“Bill” (as he was known to his family and friends) had a prosperous employee after thirty-six years with the Department of the Army. He was an avid bowler and received many trophies and plaques. He was a member of several leagues over the years at Lafayette Bowling Alley and other local bowling alleys.Moses was a “jack of all trades” and could fix anything. He was extremely selfless, and was always available to help others. Taking his grandchildren to the Maryland State Fair was the highlight of his summer. Family and friends always expected one of his baked sweet potato pies and a slice of coconut cake at Thanksgiving and Christmas.He was a founding member of Mt. Zion Hill Baptist Church under the late Dr. Clarence Poole Sr. and served as Deacon and then becoming Chairman of the Deacon Ministry. He was also a member Deacons Conference of Baltimore and Vicinity.Moses leaves to mourn: his loving wife, Regina; three daughters, Linda Nettles (William), LeRay Blanding (Charles), and Norma; two sons, Leon (Doreen),a and William Jay (Carol); two daughters-in-law, Gail and Zenobia; adopted son to the family, Kelvin (Cheryl); ten grandchildren, William Jeffrey (Sandy), Jammie (Gabrielle), Jody, Samantha, Terry, Malcolm, Teira, Maya, Crystal and Charles Jr.; and two great-granddaughters Sakura and T’kenah; and a devoted friend, Mr. Thompson. Two sons preceded him in death, Dwayne Leroy and Terry.He also leaves: two sisters, Ethel (Arthur) and Delores; three brothers, Roy, Beaufort (Annette) and Charles; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and long time friends. He was preceded in death b y his parents Moses and Sallie; three sisters, Blanche, Myrtle, and Mozella; two brothers Herman and Douglas.
