Morris Proctor Sr.

Morris Proctor, Sr., son of the late Hollie and Mary Proctor, was born in Winnsboro, South Carolina on July 31, 1943. He was the youngest of 16 children,10 have preceded him in death. He departed this life on April 26, 2015, after a miraculous battle with his heath. He always spoke fondly of the years he lived in South Carolina. He went to Fairfield High School there. He came to Baltimore, Maryland as a young man with his family and lived in West Baltimore. Morris was affectionately known to some as "Moe", "Proctor", "Peany", "Pony", "Baby Shooney", "Uncle Morris", "Pops", "Pop-Pop" and "Daddy". He enjoyed watching westerns, fishing, hunting and games of chance. He loved people, he loved to talk and he pretty much spoke his mind. He was also known to threaten to come and bite you. Has anyone been bitten? Just checking. He was a jack of all trades and master of them all. You could find him on a roof, in a tree, cutting grass, fixing plumbing, you name it he was on it. He was a very busy bee. He was liked and loved by all who knew him. He was the life of the party. As a young man he worked at the Edgar House where he met Brenda. Between the two of them, his sisters and friends wore rugs out dancing at his mother's house. He later worked for F. A. Davis and Sons for many, many years as a truck driver and hung out at his favorite spot 437, where he made numerous friends. During that time he became a part of the Doral Social Club, a group of gentlemen who gave numerous events and were always dressed to the nines. His party continued when he moved to East Baltimore on Bethel Street and Truesdale Avenue where there was always something going on. There they entertained many friends, especially their special friends, The Staggs, The Cherrys, The Kings and The Fords (his niece and nephew). Later he met Diane, his companion and helpmate of numerous years until her death. He enjoyed her family. The Jones' of Newport News, Virginia, became his extended family. But his biggest party, PRAISE THE LORD, was when he joined the New Mt. Hebron Church Family about twenty-nine years ago under the leadership of the late Rev. Leary and continued under the leadership of Rev K. Jackson until he passed away. There he was a trustee for some years. He was a member of the male and female usher board. He sang on The Leary Vocal Choir and was also the president, vice-president of the pastors aide, worked on the culinary ministry and van ministry. And last but by no means least, he was a faithful church custodian all until his death. His party ended on this side when God decided to give his little body a rest. He will truly be missed by all, especially at the 2nd Proctor Family Reunion in July 2015. He leaves to mourn: two daughters, Gerry and Karen; one son, Morris, Jr. (Maria); stepson, Andrew; grandchildren, Pierre, Wesley, Xavier, Alexus and Deja'; great-grandson, Victor; five sisters, Holy Bea Marjorie and Atlee all from Baltimore, Maryland, Daisy from Winnsboro, South Carolina and Queen from Hartford, Connecticut; two goddaughters, Carole and Shawna; god son, Stewart; special niece, Valerie a.k.a. Tweetybird; adopted son and friend, Will; adopted nephew, Renaldo; four step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
