Morlon LaNorris Mitchell

Morlon LaNorris Mitchell, age 68, was born in Cumberland County, Virginia. She spent her formative years in the city of Richmond where she was educated in the city’s public schools. Morlon had a love for education and was enrolled in different colleges to further her love for learning. Further, she had a love for God, having received him as her savior, and loved to serve his people. Morlon had a compassion for reading and writing, and published numerous short stories. She held a number of jobs before retiring from Reynolds Metal Corporate Headquarters approximately 30 years ago at which time she chose to make a major change in her life. She relocated to Buenos Aires, Argentina where she lived up until November of this year when she came home for her usual visit. Morlon was known to spend three months here in America (late November to early February) to spend time with family and friends before returning to Buenos Aires where she worked as a private tutor. No one was a stranger as she met many interesting people in numerous countries due to her love for travel. Morlon was preceded in death by her son, Robert Mitchell, Jr., and her parents, Mitchell Sr. and Thelma Taylor. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted friend, Roberto Dal Bosco; five grandchildren, Shandra, Norris, Taylor, Destiny, and Robert III; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Washington (James), Thelma Glass (Haywood), Carolyn Johnson (Douglas); five brothers, Mitchell Taylor, Jr., (Dyanne), Robert Taylor (Eartha), Clyde and Howard Taylor, and Mitchell Bell, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Morlon presented as a very simple person, one who loved family friends and life in general. When you think of her, think of these words: Be glad that you’ve had such a full, happy life, Be glad for your joy as well as your strife. Be glad that you’ve walked in sunshine and rain, Be glad that you’ve felt both pleasure and pain. Be glad that you’ve tasted the bitter and sweet, Be glad that your life has been full and complete, Be glad that you’ve walked with courage each day, Be glad you’ve had strength for each step of the way, Be glad for the comfort you’ve found in prayer, Be be happiest of all for God’s tender care. -Helen Steiner Rice
