Monica M Sheppard

Monica Michelle Harrison Sheppard was born August 28, 1961, in Baltimore, Maryland, the fourth of five siblings to the late Henry James and Callisia Edwards Harrison. Monica peacefully departed this life on Friday, November 4, 2022, in the comfort of her home. Mon or "Mornica" as she was affectionately known, accepted Christ in her life at an early age. Mon received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She graduated a Western Dove in 1979 and became an LPN through the Johnston School of Practical Nursing in January 1997. Mon started her healthcare journey working in many different settings, from Union Memorial Hospital to correctional healthcare and assisted living. She married Percy James Sheppard 3rd, April 30, 1988. They shared one daughter, Latoya Denise Sheppard (Toy) and they enjoyed their family. Monica was always a faithful servant, devoting time to the church nursing ministry, usher board, or choir throughout her life. Canaan was her family church but she gained another church family with New Antioch Ministries- Pastored by Bishop Orlando A. Wilson. She loved her family and had such a HUGE HEART and a contagious and loving smile. She would help aid and assist in anything within her power to do. She was loving and devoted; a special mommy as well as an amazing grandmother to her grandchildren. Monica traveled with her sister/cousins (Traveling Divas); they shared a special bond (BJ, Sergeant, Jo, Taffy, and Vicky) anybody that Mon came into contact with had a special relationship with her. Monica loved music! She especially loved dancing and her all-time favorite singers were Luther Vandross and Prince. Mon had a wide variety of musical selections that she loved. Spending time with her family and friends, laughing, and being able to enjoy life. She worked hard to create a good life for herself and her family, especially her daughter and grands. Monica was such a dignified lady in the eyes of many. She leaves to cherish wonderful memories, one child Latoya Denise Sheppard (Toy); three grandchildren, Dylan, Damon, and Denise (The 3 D crew); Percy Sheppard (Husband); Tiffany Sheppard, Miles Wade, Epiphany, and Matthew Anderson; four siblings, John Sutton, Brenda Edwards, Keith Harrison and Stephanie Harrison; four sister- in- laws, Brenda Williams, Francine Saunders, Gwendolyn Saunders-Wingfield and Yvette Saunders: her Bonus son Donyelle; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, other relatives and friends whom she loved so very much.
