Mollie Mae Street

Mollie King Street, was born on November 4, 1924 in Cumberland county, North Carolina to James King and Bessie McLeod King. She lived in Harriet County, North Carolina until moving to Durham, North Carolina in 1936. She graduated in 1944 from Hillside High School. She was saved, filled with the Holy Ghost, and baptized in Jesus name under Pastor Bishop C. L. Faison, The Church of God in Christ Jesus. She taught Sunday school, lead the Junior Usher board and Junior Choir worked in the Youth Department and was a Missionary. She was ordained in 1959 to minister the Word of Jesus in the Church of god in Christ Jesus. She was the Diocese mother over the following cities: Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York and Rhode Island.She was seamstress, sales woman for Mason Shoe Company, and a factory worker. She also worked in a dry cleaner and she loved to do housework.In1968 she married the late Bishop Gattis Street. She became the stepmother to his seven children. In 1970 her husband was installed as Pastor under the Leadership of Bishop Lumpkin. The Church of God of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. She worked faithfully with her husband in the Church. She remained with the Association of Apostolic Faith Churches under the leadership of Bishop Clinton Jones.She is survived by her stepchildren, Mary Pheobe McCray of Durham, NC, Priscilla Thorpe and James A. Street of Philadelphia, PA, Sarah Jane Street and Lola Thomas of Mays Landing, NJ, Queen Street of Pleasantville, NJ, Gattis Street, Jr.; and Clara Jean Starks, who she raised, preceded her in death.Leslie Tyler, who she took to be her son. Other relatives include her mother-in-law, Mother Sarah Street, her brothers-in-laws, Pasco Street, George street, William Crudup; her sisters-in-laws, Lottie Mae,Sander street, Maggie Pauline, Lucinda Bass, Emma Crudup, Cozella Hunt, three sons-in-laws, Elder Lamont Thomas, James McCray and Floyd Thorpe, a special cousin, Minister T.T Murphy, sixteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and Saints of Jesus Christ everywhere.Her life and witnessing was blessing to many people and that was her greatest joy. The scripture and song that pricked her heart because they are both true were: “Ye Must Be Born Again” and “I Must See Jesus for Myself Someday.”
