Minnie L. Taylor

Minnie Lou Taylor was born on October 14, 1938, in Woodland, Georgia, to the late Bennie Pye Sr. and Willie Pye. She was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Mark X. Taylor, and her brothers, Bennie Pye Jr., Homer Pye, and Paul Curtis Pye. Minnie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She united with Friendship Baptist Church in Woodland, Georgia, where she faithfully served in many capacities. Her spiritual foundation guided her life and shaped her loving, generous spirit. She received her education at Ruth Carter High School in Talbotton, Georgia. On March 5, 1960, she was united in holy matrimony with Charles H. Taylor Sr. in Columbus, Georgia. Their 32-year union was blessed with three children: Mark X. Taylor, Crystal T. Hendrick, and Charles H. Taylor Jr. After many dedicated years as a military spouse and homemaker, Minnie pursued a career as an Activities Director at the Richmond Community Senior Center. She excelled in this role, sharing her creativity, compassion, and love for arts and crafts with the community she served. Minnie lived a life filled with love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She was known for her beautiful gardens, delicious cooking, skilled sewing, and her willingness to lend a helping hand. Her travels around the world enriched her understanding of different cultures, cuisines, and customs—experiences she delighted in sharing. Stylish and elegant, she never missed an opportunity to shop. She had a warm listening ear, a sharp sense of humor, and an air of grace and sophistication. Minnie offered wise counsel to all who sought it—and often even to those who didn’t. She transitioned peacefully on November 22, 2025. Minnie leaves to cherish her loving children, Crystal Hendrick (Kevin) and Charles H. Taylor Jr.; her treasured grandchildren, Samantha Taylor, Taylor Hendrick and Trent Hendrick; caring siblings, Essie McCrary (Alfred), Annie Grace Bailey, Roosevelt Pye and John Pye (Gloria); along with a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, who loved her dearly. She will also be fondly remembered by her devoted caregivers—Sondra Johnson, Kimberly Blade and Sherry Ross. Minnie Lou Taylor’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will live on in all who knew her.
