Milton V. Curry

Milton Vandyke Curry ("Van") was born on February 11, 1955 to Maxine Curry and the late Milton D. Curry in Baltimore, Maryland. God reached down and took Van's hand and led him home on Friday, November 6, 2015. As a child, Van was a good child that loved to be mischievous. Throughout his life he always had a love for music. He was a fabulous singer and he loved to write songs. He loved his family and always enjoyed the company of his siblings. He was such an awesome brother that he even took his sister Karen to her prom. Van was a great man with a gentle spirit. Van was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He worked numerous years at the American Red Cross in the Mobile Blood Unit. Van's love of the Lord and music led him to become a member of the Humphrey Chorus Ensemble at First Christian Community Baptist Church, along with his sister Karen. One of Van's blessings was his fabulous voice he was blessed with. He sang in multiple bands, starting with his first group "The Phy-Dells" and later with other groups including "First Class". In January 1978, while Van's Mobile Unit of the American Red Cross was at Towson State University, he met a shy college student named Deborah Pulliam who was very nervous about giving blood for the first time. He took her phone number and called her later that day to see if she was okay. Six months later they were married. From that loving union two children were born, Tamika and Milton Van Jr. He was also the proud father of Denise Lielek. Van was a loving grandfather of six beautiful grandchildren that loved him dearly. He was an uncle loved and adored by his nieces and nephews. He was a devoted family man and a true friend to many. Van later in life joined New Harvest Word Empowerment Church which is led by his long time friend Apostle Dr. R.D. Wise. Preceding him death was his father Milton D. Curry, his sister Denise Daniels, his brother Darrell Curry and nephew Trevor Raphael. he leaves to mourn: wife, Deborah Curry; mother, Maxine Curry; three children, Tamika Alexander (Darin), Milton Curry and Denise Kielek (Jay); six grandchildren, Jaison Jones, Tai Alexander, Myah Alexander, Matthiti Curr, Caidon Oliphant, Diana Gianna Oliphant; two sisters, Xavia Jason and Karen Raphael; nieces and nephews Nichole Nichols Kelly (Howard), Quiana Dawson(Jeffrey), Rahsaan Daniels (Ayo) along with a host of other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
