Mildred Gloria Kane

MILDRED GLORIA KANE, the daughter of the late William Oscar Kane and Laura Butler, departed this life on Wednesday July 5, 207 at the age of ninety-three years old. Her life was the late George Frank Kane. Mildred was born on October 15, 1923 in Cambridge, Maryland. At the age of two, Mildred was burned badly on her stomach. She was not expected to survive and if she did, having children would not be in her future. However God had other plans for Mildred (six kids and ninety three years of life.) She was educated in the Cambridge Public School System. She was a long term member of the group called The Forgot Me Nots, where they supported community activities for the church in Cambridge, Maryland. Mildred attended Wilson Chapel Baptist Church in Maryland where she was an active member for many years. She continued as a member even when her brother, The Rev. Joseph Kane who was a minister, passed away. She later attended St. Paul United Methodist Church. Mildred was a beautiful and strong woman. She worked hard and did her best to provide for her family. We are proud and amazed at what Mom accomplished. Even when times were tough, she continued to persevere. She was full of life and had a good sense of humor. She was also an active member of her neighborhood Association (Brookfield Ave). Mildred loved to watch the television show, I Love Lucy. That show had her laughing for hours. She also loved puzzles and word search. She loved to take Day Trips. She was never shy when it came to taking pictures. She loved attending family gatherings. She was very independent into her later years. Mildred leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters, Gloria Stamps (Gene Stamps) Bernadette Wallace, Francine Kane (Partner Timothy Ellison) and Martina Kane; one son, Eugene Kane; granddaughter, Miranda Collins (James Collins), who was the only child of her late daughter; Helen Miles who left this way too soon; one sister, Helen Walker; a host of very special grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends whom she loved dearly. Special thanks to Tanya Foote (fiance to Eugene Kane who loved and help care for her during her illness.
