Mildred F. Hughes

Mildred Frost-Hughes was born October 4, 1947 to the late Henry and Louise Frost in Baltimore City, Maryland. She peacefully departed this life on March 7, 2017. Mildred was raised by her devoted parents in the Sandtown neighborhood of Baltimore City with five siblings, three whom have proceeded her in death, Rosalie Beal, Andrew Frost and Jeanette Jones. She leaves to mourn two siblings, Carolyn Dunton and Angeanette Conaway. She attend Baltimore City Public Schools and received her high school diploma from Edmondson High School in 1967. Mildred furthered her education by going to school for business administration which landed her the position of Office Secretary at the Rosewood Center in 1984. She continued her employment at the Rosewood Center until its closure in 2009. She then transferred to the Maryland State Office Building Complex in the same position until her retirement in April, 2016. During her life-span, Mildred gave birth to four children with her oldest child Arthur D. Frost, affectionately known as “Tuffy” preceding her in death. She leaves to mourn three children: James W. Dunton, Tracie P. Dunton and Kevin L. Dunton. She was united in holy matrimony on May 13, 1994 to Grady Hughes and remained married until Grady’s untimely death in 2005. Mildred was a person who loved and tried to help everyone she could. She was thought of by most people, as a second mother, especially by her nieces and nephews. Her keen willingness to help others and her sacrificial ways to offer her last for anyone needing help in order to make a situation good for others, are just a few of her loving ways. Mildred was not very outgoing, but enjoyed being with her family whenever time permitted. She was a very outspoken person and had a very sharp tongue. Mildred would tell you her feelings, rather she agreed with you or not. She also had a funny sense of humor. Often, she would become the life of the party when she began telling old stories of past events and imitating family and friends. She was “No Nonsense” and “Hilarious” all in one. She was the best mother, family member and friend a person could ask for. After Mildred’s retirement in 2016, she encountered an illness that she succumbed to on the morning of March 7, 2017. She fought the battle long and hard. The Lord Jesus Christ told her that she had fought well and her battle was finally over, at which time, He ordered her to come home. Mildred leaves to mourn three children, James Dunton, Tracie Dunton and Kevin Dunton; two siblings, Carolyn Dunton and Angeanette Conaway; two daughters-in-law, Cherice Lyles-Dunton, Kimberly Knox-Dunton; seven grandchildren, Damion Frost, Diandre Frost, Jasmine Kennedy, Briaunna Anderson, Kyiera Dunton, Chaunice Lyles-Dunton, and Braelyn Dunton; three step grandchildren, Krystal Waldron, Christopher Waldron and Kameron Knight; five great grandchildren, Duronte’ Jakai, Eugene, Cire and Jeremiah; three step great grandchildren, Kinajah, Alexis, and Christopher; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
