Michael Eugene Washington

Michael Washington was born April 20, 1953 in Baltimore, Md. Michael transitioned from this life on December 29, 2022. “Michael Lu” affectionately called by his family. “Mike” affectionately called by his friends. “Uncle Mike” affectionately called by his nieces and nephews. Michael was 1 of 11 children born to the late Elizabeth Washington and the late Jerome Washington. Michael graduated from Carver Vocational High School in 1973; and earned a 4 year full scholarship at Towson University. Michael later joined the army and served 3 years in Germany from August 31, 1976 – August 17, 1979, with an honorable discharge. Michael later joined the work force as a Correctional Office at the Maryland State Penitentiary until he retired in 2005. Michael attended church at an early age and throughout his life. He was a hard worker and had a great work ethic. Michael was united in marriage with Sheila Washington on April 20, 1990. Michael journeyed throughout his life with longevity, milestones, and great accomplishments. Michael always remained humble. As it pertains to family “the brothers” they had a very strong bond; especially as “jokesters;” laughing and enjoying their brotherly bond; Within the last year of his life, Michael immediately became sick; and, enjoyed getting home cooked meals from his baby sister, Diana. Michael showed her who was boss; and, the big brother in the end. Michael fought and never gave!! He gave life all that he had; and told death it had to wait. “Michael stated, months later after he found out he was sick, “I’m going home to meet my Heavenly Father; but, not yet.” Thus, Michael fought a good fight of FAITH; and departed this world on his own “terms.” Michael leaves to mourn, Sheila Washington; 2 brothers, Benjamin Washington and Jerome Washington; 3 sisters, Diana Boone, Bea Cawthorne and Vinetta Reddish; 5 brothers, who proceeded him in death: Percy, Charles, Johnny, Theodore, Sr. and Eric; 2 sister-in-laws, Vicky and LouAnn.; 1 brother-in-law, Clanett; twenty-five nieces and nephews; forty great nieces and nephews. A long time true friend and caregiver, Carolyn; and a host of other relatives and friends.
