Michael L. Lacks

Michael LaShawn Lacks, also affectionately known as Shawn by relatives and friends. Mike accepted Christ at the age of eight years old. He became a member at Grayland Baptist Church at twelve years old. At Grayland Baptist church, he served as an usher and was a member of the youth choir. Michael attended Richmond Public Schools, graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School, Class of 1994. He started working at a young age with a paper route. He later began his employment by working at Dupont, GRTC as a bus mechanic and later for the City of Richmond in the Street Maintenance Department Mike was engage and at the same time humble. He was a people person, known to be quite. At times a comedian, making people laugh. Mike as a lover of music. He spent time perfecting his own artistry singing, rapping and writing sons. His daughter, his legacy he adored and cherished her. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his family and we loved him back. Saturday morning, June 5, 2021, God gave him his wings to Heaven. His family and I are going to miss him. But I know he is in a better place. Michael’s memories will forever be cherished by his daughter, Kiara Williams; mother Anjeanette Diane Bowens; father and stepmother, Oscar and Berlette Lacks; brothers, Deon A. Bowens, Jarrod M. Lacks and Travon Liles; aunts, Carolyn Fowler (Teddy), Juarita B. Smith and Dorothea M. Bowens; uncles, Henry Bowens and Warren Bowens and Dwight Bowens; extended family, Grandmother Barbara Hill; aunts, Donna Tyler and Darlene Tyler; uncle Ivan Tyler (Mae); a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Michael will truly be missed!! Don’t Cry For Me Don’t cry for me, I will be okay. Heaven is my home now, and this is where I’ll stay. Don’t cry for me, I’m where I belong. I want you to be happy and try to stay strong. Don’t cry for me, it was just my time. But I will see you someday on the other side. Don’t cry for me, I am not alone. The angels are with me to welcome me home. Don’t cry for me, for I have no fear. All my pain is gone, and Jesus took my tears. Don’t cry for me, this is not the end. I’ll be waiting here for you, when we meet again.
