Michael L. Manning

Michael Lewis Manning was born November 2, 1947 in Ellington, South Carolina to Estelle Manning and Johnny Hall. He departed this life Saturday June 28, 2008, at Our Lady Lourdes Hospital. Michael (Ricky) as he was affectionately known graduated from Atlantic City High School, class of 1966. he soon joined the Army and was stationed in Phoenix, Arizona and Seoul Korea.He was employed by Threshold Inc, a Community Correction Program of Baltimore, Maryland for over 30 years. He began his career in 1977. Michael worked hard and learned everything he could about the business. He had a passion for his job, helping offenders to help themselves. In 1998 he was promoted to Assistant Director. Mr. Manning as known throughout the correctional system had a mild style of true professionalism, he was firm, fair and was highly respected by all who knew him both personally and professionally. "Everybody loved Mike" including the Clientel.Michael will also be remembered to have had a flair of dapperness and debnair about himself. He was a family man and a true gentleman. Michael loved his family and visited them very often from Baltimore. He was the heart of the family each Christmas as he distributed gifts.. He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him. He never forgot his root and visited his Home Church: The New York Avenue Church of God in Atlantic City whenever he was in town.When Michael met Terri Warren Hear, he was over taken by Love and Happiness, Michael adored Terri and claimed his heart-they were married May 25, 2002He was preceeded in death by his mother Estelle Manning Johnson, Father Jodie L. Johnson, his brother Robert Manning and his son Darrin Day.Michael leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Terri Head Manning; two brothers, Willie Manning of Bronx, NY and David Johnson (Yvonne) of New Jersey; four sisters, Alma Ashley and Geraldine Murray of Atlantic City, NJ, Wilma Hightower and Johnnie Willis of Philadelphia Pa.; three daughters, Theresa Onyebilanma, Latonya Couch and Adaysia Warren; two sons, Shaun Witworth and Carol Bailey; grandchildren,; nieces and nephews; best friend, Forest Gilmore and a host of relatives and friends.
