Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson, the third son of ten children, born to Pierce Holley and Marie Mickey Johnson on November 6, 1957 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life after a short illness. Michael was affectionately called Mickey or just plain Mike. Michael accepted the Lord Jesus at a young age. He rededicated his life to Christ and became a member of New Shiloh Baptist Church. Michael loved the Lord. He attended Baltimore City Public Schools. He worked for many years for the Army as a Master Chef. He was a baker and after leaving military cooking he went to work at different bakeries. Mike really thought he was the best cook in the world. Before his illness he worked with his brother, Coleman, as a handyman. Coleman was not only his brother and employer; they were best friends. He was always a gentleman—opening doors for you, greeting you with a kiss on the cheek, or a handshake. He loved his family, basketball, and dancing, looking good and playing games—anything with a button or a remote. Michael adored children and they adored him. He loved all his children very much. His nieces and nephews always looked forward to seeing their Uncle Mike. Mike would play all kinds of games with them; they just loved him and he loved them. He was a wonderful brother who thought he knew it all and always had an answer fir you or something to make you laugh. He was very helpful to his mother and he was her (go get it for me) man. He loved sharing stories especially with Uncle Henry; the family called them, little know-it all and big know-it all those two really could go. There are so many things we could say about Mike like he was a good man, an all around nice guy. But he was much more, he was a good son, brother, friend, father, husband and most of all he knew Jesus Christ as his Savior. Mike will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The love and memories that he created will remain in our hearts forever. We thank God for the life of Michael. Rest our dear Michael, your battle was fought and victory won!He was preceded in death by his siblings, Linda, Lawrence, Joanne, Alice, Gregory, and Glenndora.He leaves to mourn, loving mother; Marie Johnson, father Pierce Holley, wife Yolanda Rene Johnson, his sons, Michael Jr. and Ryan, daughter Kadijah, two stepdaughters, Shannon and Satin, two grandchildren, two sisters Leona Tucker and Kim Cheeks, brother Coleman Holley, one special uncle, Henry Mickey, aunt and uncle Carl and Terry Brooks, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends, and a long devoted, loving friend Clarice Miller.
