Michael J. Henson

On Saturday, April 15, 2017 as harps sounded and white doves flew, our Heavenly Father spoke to his son, Michael James Henson and decided it was time to give him the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Michael James Henson, affectionately known as Mike, Uncle Mike, Granddaddy Mike, and Otis, to his close friends and family, was born on May 11, 1961 to Yvonne D. Henson and Wesley B. Henson, Sr. in Baltimore, MD. He attended Edmondson High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Gail Price and was later blessed with twin girls, Tiffany and Terell Henson. He graduated from Edmondson High School in 1980. Following his graduation, he joined the Air Force where he served his country as a Medical Lab Specialist. In March of 1983, he was united in holy matrimony to Gail. Once he finished his term in the Air Force, he began his career with the State of Maryland as a security guard. For the last seven years, Michael was a loyal employee of UMBC, a job he cherished and valued dearly. Michael was a devoted son, father, brother and uncle. He was the life of the party, always dancing and joking. There wasn't a room in this world he couldn't brighten. He was very friendly and outgoing, walking anywhere with this man was like walking with a celebrity. He treasured all five of his daughters and loved to brag about them to everyone. He could take any story and make it funny. Michael touched the hearts of so many. Michael leaves to cherish his memory: his companion, Gloria Robinson; five daughters, Tiffany R. Henson, Terell L. Henson, Joy Robinson, Melissa D. Johnson, and Cachete Y. Henson; three granddaughters, Aijae Brooks, Malaun Murray, and Morgan Thomas; four grandsons: Jamal Tucker, Daelen Brooks, Siya Williams, and Zi'yae Jackson; his mother, Yvonne D. Henson; his father, Wesley B. Henson Sr.; two sisters, Jacqueline D. Walker and Michelle L. McPhail; one brother, Wesley B. Henson Jr.; his favorite aunt, Brenda; eight nieces, Stacie, Ebonie, Shakirah, Shantay, Bianca, Crystal, Chasity, and Christina; two nephews, Keith and Brandon; and a host of other relatives and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruth Matthews and his loving sister, Jean Wright. Michael's legacy will forever live in the hearts of his family and friends.
