Michael Grant

MICHAEL EUGENE GRANT was born on January 19, 1953 in Columbus, Georgia to Virginia Grant and the late Nathaniel Grant. He peacefully departed this life on April 1, 2010 with his family by his side.When Michael, affectionately called Mike, was three years old he moved to Baltimore with his mother, sister and other relatives. Mike was baptized at Christian Unity Baptist Church of Baltimore at the age of twelve. He graduated form Loyola High School 1971 and then attended Towson State University. Mike has always loved home improvement, and worked in this field for over thirty years and eventually started his own business.Mike was joined in holy matrimony to Leah (Mason) on February 28, 1981 and from this union their two daughters Tamara and Jacqueline were born. Although home improvement was Mike's passion, he loved fishing, grilling, hanging out with family and friends, and cooking in the kitchen. Every Sunday his door was open to family and friends to stop by for some of Mike's “famous” fried chicken and there was always enough food to go around.Mike's mom Virginia was his biggest fan, and she tirelessly did her best to care for him even when she was not well herself. Leah and Mike were connected in so many ways, and were always there for one another, and when he became ill, she continued to be right there by his side. Mike was absolutely adored by his daughters, and was a wonderful man who was loved by friends and relatives alike and will truly be missed.Mike leaves to cherish his precious memory: his mother, Virginia Grissom; wife, Leah Mason-Grant; two daughters, Tamara (Kenneth) and Jacqueline Grant; sister, Barbara Jean Grant; father- and mother-in-law Wilbert and Pauline Mason; three uncles, Thomas Grissom (Dorothy), Daniel Grissom and Willie Grissom (Barbara); aunt, Ida Lee Grissom; two uncles-in-law, Hugh Hogue (Paula) and Thurman Hogue (Ruth) and aunt-in-law, Jeanette Ray; brother-in-law, Wilbert Mason Jr. (Annette); two grandchildren, Kenneth and Nyla Scott; five nephews, Gerald Grant, Antwan, Andre, Paul and Dante Mason; two nieces, Leah Mason and Darlita Williams; two great-nephews, TaJuan and Paul Mason Jr.; three great-nieces, Brittany Grant, Kamran and Lyric Mason; and a host of cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
