Michael A. Faulkner

Michael Andrew Faulkner, the youngest son of the late Andrew and Dorothy (Dottie) Faulkner, was born on February 22, 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland and raised Hanover, Maryland. On Sunday, September 9, 2018 at approximately 2:00 in the afternoon, God tenderly called Michael home. The last chapter of his life was written and God sent an angel to escort Michael to heaven. His spirit soared and he reached out and touched God’s hand to begin his new eternal life in Heaven. Michael was raised in a Christian home and attended St. Mark United Methodist Church throughout his life. As a child, he regularly attended Sunday school and was in the Drama Club. As an adult, he served on the St. Mark Finance Committee as a counter, vice chair and chairman, and a member of Pastor Parrish Relations Committee. Along with his love for the church, he loved his family. He would frequently tell childhoods stories of running errands and delivering bread for Granny Mable to his aunts and uncles in the neighborhood, playing with all his cousins, swimming in the branch, and picking beans (which was his least favorite childhood activity). Michael also LOVED breakfast and wouldn’t hesitate to get up early and prepare ‘the most important meal of the day’ for his loved ones. He received his primary and secondary education at Harman’s Elementary and Arundel Junior and Senior High Schools. Prior to graduating high school, Michael was blessed to become a father to his first daughter, Sandra Coby, who he affectionately referred to as ‘babe’. Following high school, Michael proudly attended and graduated from Delaware State College in May of 1971 with a Bachelor Science Degree in Business Administration. It was at Delaware State that his love for music blossomed. He told stories of listening to records in the dorms with friends and going to dances. He continued to collect records and go to concerts after he graduated and still has an extensive record collection. Michael was a proud and active alumnus of Delaware State University and he religiously attended Homecoming every year. He cherished his time at Delaware State and stayed in touch with his classmates until his death. After college, he began his professional career in insurance sales and disputes and then transitioned into the Juvenile Services Administration as a Juvenile counselor. It was here that he met his wife, Mary Demory. Michael and Mary wed on August 30, 1982 and their union was blessed with 2 daughters, Monique and Monica Faulkner. In 1992, Michael become the director of Human Resources at Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center and served in this position for numerous years. Prior to retiring from the State of Maryland, Michael spent a short time as the Human Resource Director for the Maryland Lottery Commission. Once retired, Michael discovered his all-time favorite hobby, golf. Nothing made him happier, then waking up early in the morning to meet the guys for golf. He would play all day, several times a week with his closest friends and cousins. Michael also enjoyed going to the Raven’s games, dining at the Salsa Grill with his wife, Mary, and just spending quality time with his family. He is preceded in death in by his brother, Calvin H. Faulkner and daughter, Monique Faulkner; and leaves to mourn: his wife, Mary D. Faulkner; two daughters, Sandra Coby (Kevin) and Monica Faulkner; three granddaughters, Alexis and Aryn Coby and Eden Alston; one sister-in-law, Ellen (Enrique) Ramirez, two brothers-in-law Ronnie and Rodney (Cherise) Demory, one niece, Pamela (Eric) Hamilton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
