Michael Earl Cheatham

Michael E. Cheatham, son of Cleo and Willie Brown and paternal father the deceased Samuel D. Cheatham, was born on August 7, 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland. He united in marriage to Patsy Ann Nance on January 5, 1974. The Lord peacefully called Michael home the morning of May 16, 2004 after a brief illness.Michael received his education through attending Northwestern High School completing his credits for his diploma on enlisting into U.S. Air Force and entering community college where he obtained his Associate degree, after which Michael’s academic achievements continued studies for his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering at the University of Las Vegas. Michael also gradated from non-commissional officer’s academy and non-commissional leadership school. Many of his military work skills being transferred into college credit. Michael was honorably discharged from military service in 1996 with rank of SFC. With commendations in form of ribbons and medals. His tours in service that stationed him; Homestead AFB, Florida; Bentwaters AFB England; Nellis AFB, Nevada; Torejon AFB Madrid Spain; Hahn AFB Germany. Returning to Nellis AFB Las Vegas, Nevada. It was there he, Patsy and children retired after completing 24 years of service. He united with Gateway Baptist Church, Las Vegas, Nevada.Michael always sought civilian housing for his family throughout his service. Attended sports events that his children partook in. He worked on cars and enjoyed various aspects of art. Michael had a great love of music, which was a trait his children picked up. He enjoyed having GIs who were without their families, come for dinner, holidays, cookouts in the summer. He extended his home warmly to the friends of his children on many occasions. He also loved to have his family and friend visit the numerous countries and states he lived.Michael became a Mason while in Germany and also joined the Travel Lodge #25, Hahn AFB, the Marvin B. Dunham of R.A.M. and the Gustave M. Soloman Consistory Lodge #101 of Bitburg AFB Germany. A loving group of Fraternal brothers. Michael’s mother recalls the question he asked in his fist year of school-Mom when it’s time for the end of class the teacher always says “class get ready for the missile”-but I never see the missile. I explained to him what she meant. Ironically at that young age it was predicted that he would be a military man (smiles).Michael leaves to cherish his life: his loving wife of 30 years of matrimony, Patsy Ann Cheatham; his children, Eric Fatima, Dante’, Michele, Michael, Samuel, and Patrice; grandchildren, Erica, Kaya, Jordan; and Xavier (Mikey and Jelani preceded him in death); mother and father, Cleo and Willie brown; three sisters, Carrol, Gwen and Ann; three brothers, Isaac Eugene, James Maurice and Jerry; mother and father-in-law, Bernice Nance and David Bass “Pop-Pop,” and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
