Meril Dallen Reed

MERAL DALLEN REED died on may 12, 2011 at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Medical Campus after a short illness. He was born on August 19, 1954 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Shirley Reed and the late Clarence Reed , Jr. where he received his early education in the Portsmouth Public School System. Meril loved to sing and read the newspaper. He was an avid chess player and could fix or build anything in or around the house. For ten years he participated in the March of Dimes Walk-A-Thon. He enjoyed boxing and studied Karate up to his brown belt. He also enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. After moving to Baltimore, Maryland in 1979, he found employment with Maryland National Bank, now Bank of America, as a consolidated engineer and continued his employment for twenty-seven years until his death. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Stephanie Reed; his children, Shina Richardson, Anthony Saunders (LaTanya) of Portmouth, Virginia, Zarantee Roberts( Shauntai), Nashti Mouran- Mooring ( Clayton), LaTonya Mouran, Yalanda Mouran, Michael Reed and Lalasa Graves of Maryland; grandchildren, Tianna, Deonte(Shina) Quanisha, Donniqua, Raykwaun, Deon, Chrystal, Harold, Tierra(Anthony), Reginald, Zartavious, Corey, Mikayla ( Zarentee), Jankiiya, Aqeel, Nyhzi, Zykhi, Dominique (Nashti), Rahsaan (LaTonya), Saniya( Yolanda) Lasiyah and Lance(Lalasa); and one great-grandchild, Tyrique(Tianna) ; his mother, Shirley Reed; sister, Linda D. Reed ( Robert) , Sharon R. Reed, Marya A. Green (Linwwood) , Alfreda Reed- Faulcon (Larry), Debbie R, Reed (Fred) and Avis M. Reed-Blow ( Cartinez) all of Portsmouth, Virginia; his aunt, Jean Edwards; and uncle, Marvin Robinson of Portsmouth, Virginia and aunt, Earestine Kidd of Tennessee: his mother-in-law, Hattie Bolden; and brother-in-law, William Bolden , Jr., his best friend, Ricky Holley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Y. Reed; and father, Clarence Reed, Jr.; grandson, Thomas “TJ” Richardson; and brother , Clarence R. Reed. Meril will be greatly missed. His memory and spirit will live on in the Hearts of those whom he came in contact with forever.
